No sign of my cheque

@Anarchist it just prolongs the whole process, I have stuff I need to pay for, debts, bills, etc I lost my job due to covid a while back so I’m struggling

When will Monzo allow check imaging? I appreciate that cheques aren’t frequently used, but they are still given out and this is useful as you don’t have any branches. Is this something on the Horizon?

It was sidelined. I don’t think it will ever happen.

Thanks for the update. Good job I kept my Lloyds account.

Even if you don’t bother with a full current account elsewhere I’d say this is a genuine reason to keep even a savings account with an OTC provider whether it be a building society or anything akin to this

Building security. This was mentioned a couple of years ago in a topic where someone wanted to personally deliver a cheque to the Monzo building and was a bit annoyed that this didn’t really speed up the process (because it then has to make its way to Monzo’s postroom, and then on to their cheque facilities provider).

I’ve kept my First Direct account for paying cheques in (among other reasons). Very simple to use HSBC ATMs to scan and deposit them, which I’ve done all of, I think, twice in the last five years.

Bank loses cheque. That’s pretty poor, for a bank

At the very least, Monzo needs to address its current processes around the management of incoming post (being a bank and all !).

In so doing, it needs to own the problem our forum colleague @SRK has experienced and under which they still labour. I couldn’t immediately see a Monzo rep having acknowledged this.

Is it possible @Dan5 might point the topic at someone internally, given the personal and corporate issues involved?

Really poor form from Monzo to lose a cheque full stop, but especially when @SRK used special delivery.

When I got compensated they just transferred it directly to me from the courts

Maybe it’s lost by security

If I was you I’ll ask for another check or contact monzo.

Ideally I have a high street bank for cheque

Did you write your details on it correctly if you didn’t someone has had a lucky day

What? How are they going to cash a cheque in his name?

Could be same name.

Monzo might not have checked the name and just issued it to the account details

Monzo owes you £7.55 for special delivery plus £1 for an envelope plus £5 for fuel or £10 for a return taxi plus compensate for causing worry.

This happened to me with Coop before I switched to monzo and they gave me £50 to cover it all and a bit extra for the hassle

After that I just told the person to issue a transfer (British gas - I overpaid/they took too much)

That’s reassuring…:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s a possibility tho. In the case this did happen I guess op will be liable since it’s his error as it tells you to write them down correctly

I mean if there’s someone else with a Monzo account with the same name and he’s written their account number rather than his own, that is a possibility.

@Ashton yes I did, I put my account number and sort code on the back of the cheque as advised.

I think he’s suggesting that they just looked at the name and credited it to another person with that same name without checking the account numbers match.

@coffeemadman I bloody hope not! This is from my accident claim payout as I can’t work due to my injuries

Of course it is, but I was thinking how annoyed I’d have felt if, in the OP’s position, I saw that comment.
