Ok so switched to the new layout yesterday and within 20 minutes had switched back. Thank goodness I could. I like to see everything separately and to have it bulked together was so confusing. I couldn’t see what was coming out of which account unless I went into the account.
Please don’t drop the original layout. I need to be able to see each account quickly and easily not all lumped together. Some may love it but I am not at all a fan of this option.
You get a choice between the two layouts
Change is coming. Give it a try for longer and add your feedback below because eventually you won’t have a choice.
I remember the layout change a few years back.
I was resistant to it because the original layout was dead easy to use and suited MY purpose.
Alas, Monzo had to cater for more than my taste and moved to the current layout, which I adjusted too.
Now we’re moving to another, fresh look, and I’m trying to adjust early by using it from Labs.
As I don’t use any of the budgeting features any more, Trends useless to how I run my accounts without upgrading, I can get by.
Not going to be easy for many tbf.
The new layout wouldn’t be so bad if they moved the Activity section below the pots balances. It really gripes me, for reasons you mention ie needing to see the balances without a faff.
Nothing stays the same. It will eventually change.
True. But I’d rather they spent their time changing things that just don’t work (like the Flex statement mess - how was that ever consideered fit for release?) for the better, rather than changing things that work just fine (like the home screen) for the worse*. (*In my opinion)
I like the new layout
Now that would bug me no end, maybe they need to have option within the layout, so you can choose the order.
The new interface is quite shocking. First impressions are that it’s incredibly ugly (why make everything so narrow? – margins within margins – and the big block of orange is unpleasant on the eyes).
However the new enhanced trend features are interesting and potentially useful. I just wish they weren’t so clunky… it looks like they do a server request with every swipe? What if I’m on the underground?
Agree, having all the cards/accounts bundled made no sense for me. Seeing transactions for joint account in the same feed as personal doesn’t work at all and made it difficult to see anything clearly for my finances.
How do you change back to the old layout?! This new layout is God awful. For me, its a mess and makes using monzo convoluted.
Go to labs and turn it off.
You can hate it, but it’s coming whether you like it or not.
Don’t think that works if you’re one the guinea pigs who got forced into it, like My mom. It’s off in labs for her, but she still has it. It’s really far from ready for that stage of the rollout.
When it’s done I think it’ll be better than the existing interface, but as of now, it’s still significantly unfinished and there’s still too many kinks that haven’t been ironed out.
I wonder how many people who hate it, when it actually becomes the only way to use Monzo, just get on with it?
Are these things ever a catalyst for someone ditching Monzo, despite the gnashing of teeth?
Considering the app has and will continue to be a selling point (considering it is an app-based bank), I can imagine quite a few caring more about the app than with Santander or Lloyds or whatever. However, I doubt many people will leave. Apps do constantly change and people are used to that (although some are forced to change back due to so many complaints).
The app is pretty much the only way I interact with monzo so, yeah, a crap interface would be quite a big issue. Other things, like social payments, would make it harder (but not impossible) to leave.
And of course, there’s difficulty knowing exactly whether the grass really is greener elsewhere, and how much longer it might stay greener.
It was for me! I just couldn’t get into the new UI, I mean there were other reasons such as poor CS but I think it could well be.
Maybe I’m a nerd but the look and feel of the banking app is a major factor whether I’ll bank with someone now. Didn’t used to be but here we are.
I don’t know about banks specifically, but there have certainly been moments throughout history in software where a popular software company would overhaul their UI, experience huge amounts of backlash and although I don’t know if they took an exodus to trigger it, but they tend to be quickly reverted and scrapped entirely.
I don’t personally see something like this happening to Monzo though.
The same happens in reverse too.
Lots of complaints and then people get used to it and come to like it.
Or, the business stick by their guns and it tanks. Plenty of those examples too
