Thatās one bug I like the sound of. Missed the rollout of the new look and no option to opt in. Iād pay for that lol
Was the account created in the last 9 days?
About 9 days ago there was a message on here from a Monzo employee saying āweāll be rolling it out slowly over the next month or soā (I guess referring to existing accounts). Havenāt seen anything specific relating to new accounts, but it would seem a bit odd to me if be accounts created in the last 9 days were put onto the old layout, only to be changed to new layout in the coming days.
Yeah, it was created 3 days ago
I guess theyāll be moved over to the new layout within the next month or so, but it does seem odd that theyāre not just putting new users directly onto the new layout.
The option to toggle the new layout in Labs has disappeared from my app. Iāve been switching back and forth a few times but maybe I did it one too many?
Thing is Iām on the old layout at the moment, on the latest version of the app, but with no way to go to the new version.
Gradual roll out. Youāll be moved onto the new layout within a month or so.
I know people donāt like change and I am no exception but the new look is horrible. I get that it can be changed and I have tried the options, I seem to be left with cluttered and messy or many taps to get where I want. Neither look good and neither help efficiency of use.
Most of the time I just want to quickly reference the app and come back out again, I really donāt want to have to be clicking, looking for stuff or the alternative of having a ton of info on the screen so that I have to concentrate and look really carefully to make choices or a selection.
The main reason I chose Monzo over Starling were the nicely balanced screens on the app. Everything was large enough so that you could easily find what you wanted but with enough info, now the balance has gone the other way and Starling is beginning to appeal.
I will of course give it some time before making up my mind and maybe someone will be able to help me to make the app look like it used to. Really disappointed.
Thereās a whole thread on this, Iād imagine this post is going to be merged with the existing thread.
Thanks for the reply. Having had a quick look at the megathread, looks like there are a load of people unhappy with the change. I guess it is the nature of business that managers UI engineers feel obliged to do something to show their worth rather than leaving something that isnāt broken alone. Just my opinion.
They havenāt changed it ājust becauseā. Itās to make it more scalable for their ever expanding feature and product sets.
I donāt think theyād go to the trouble of having the designers overhaul the UI and have the engineers build out the new design, all to simply justify their positions, especially when the whole business centres around the app. There would have been significant involvement and signing off on changes across many departments.
If you can add your feedback to the other thread outlining which bits you donāt like and what youād like to see changed, it will all be taken on board and pooled together to refine it over time.
^^
I stand corrected
Well, you could be right but I wonder what proportion of users are signed up to this forum? The users who take an interest in discussing these matters but my guess is that there will be many others who havenāt voted on whether they like the change or knew very much about it till it happened.
Like others I have learned to tap on the card image to get me back to a similar setup to before but it is irritating when is was so good before.
Iām pretty sure Monzo has been experimenting with switching non-forum users over to the new home screen for several months. I know someone who isnāt a forum user and was switched over a few months ago. Data and feedback gained from these experiments will have informed the decision on whether to and when to move everyone else over to the new home screen. They wouldnāt have paid much attention to a poll created by a forum user as a bit of fun.
A tiny tiny amount. Which is why āNewlook homepage is terribleā threads make absolutely zero difference to anything.
I think people are free to voice their opinion here, just as you are free to link to years-old posts every time someone comes on here looking for help.
