When Will I Get Paid? - Christmas 2025/January 2026

Here is a breakdown of the possible pay dates for incoming BACS and Faster Payments receipts into :monzo: bank accounts over the 2025/2026 Xmas/New Year period - noting that employers may choose to pay salaries earlier than normal at this time of year and this list of dates assumes the :monzo: Paid Early feature remains operational:

For salary/incoming payments via BACS (where the incoming transaction usually shows in advance as a greyed-out transaction in the feed) and also using the Paid Early feature:

  • Usually paid on 19-Dec, claim early @ 4pm on 18-Dec
  • Usually paid on 20-Dec, claim early @ 4pm on 18-Dec
  • Usually paid on 21-Dec, claim early @ 4pm on 18-Dec
  • Usually paid on 22-Dec, claim early @ 4pm on 19-Dec
  • Usually paid on 23-Dec, claim early @ 4pm on 22-Dec

  • Usually paid on 04-Jan, claim early @ 4pm on 31-Dec :fireworks:
  • Usually paid on 05-Jan, claim early @ 4pm on 02-Jan

For salary/incoming payments via Faster Payments (where the incoming transaction is usually received without any prior notification):

  • Usually paid on 19-Dec, should be received on 19-Dec
  • Usually paid on 20-Dec, should be received on 19-Dec
  • Usually paid on 21-Dec, should be received on 19-Dec
  • Usually paid on 22-Dec, should be received on 22-Dec
  • Usually paid on 23-Dec, should be received on 23-Dec
  • Usually paid on 24-Dec, should be received on 24-Dec
  • Usually paid on 25-Dec, should be received on 24-Dec :santa:
  • Usually paid on 26-Dec, should be received on 24-Dec :santa:
  • Usually paid on 27-Dec, should be received on 24-Dec :santa:
  • Usually paid on 28-Dec, should be received on 24-Dec :santa:
  • Usually paid on 29-Dec, should be received on 29-Dec
  • Usually paid on 30-Dec, should be received on 30-Dec
  • Usually paid on 31-Dec, should be received on 31-Dec :fireworks:
  • Usually paid on 01-Jan, should be received on 31-Jan :fireworks:
  • Usually paid on 02-Jan, should be received on 02-Jan
  • Usually paid on 03-Jan, should be received on 02-Jan
  • Usually paid on 04-Jan, should be received on 02-Jan
  • Usually paid on 05-Jan, should be received on 05-Jan

The above is based on Thursday 25-Dec being Christmas Day, Friday 26-Dec being Boxing Day and Thursday 01-Jan being New Years Day. Friday 02-Jan is a bank holiday in Scotland, but Monzo doesn’t observe Scottish BH’s.

People just get lazy, by the time they’ve written their post they could’ve just worked it out.

It’s just the working day prior to you being paid. I’ve never quite understood any confusion!

We’ve got Easter coming up - I would assume anyone due to get paid between the 18th and 22nd April will be able to claim on Thursday 17th?

They’ll get paid the working day before…no one will be scheduled to get paid between 18th and 21st, as pay roll will have already scheduled either paying it Thursday 17th, in which case you’ll get it Wednesday 16th. Or it’ll be scheduled for Tuesday 22nd, in which case you’ll get it Thursday 17th.

Don’t forget those people on benefits. Around public holidays, they are paid earlier than their usual payment day and with Monzo it would be a day earlier than that.

Some companies do the same, notably at Christmas.

This isn’t quite true.

People paid on X date every month, opposed to X working day every week/4weeks, will see variants of dates.

Those paid on 18/19/20/21st April will get theirs Thursday 17th normally, or weds the 16th if using paid early.

Same if you’re paid by your employer 18/19/20/21st April.

Those paid 22nd will be paid on 22nd, unless you use paid early you can collect on 17th.

aka: Check your :monzo: app every day:

  • If you see an upcoming, incoming greyed-out transaction in the feed, tap on it & if it says you can claim early from 4pm, go back to it after 4pm and claim early

  • If you don’t see an upcoming, incoming greyed-out transaction, tough. It’ll just arrive when it does. A nice surprise. Every cloud…

Am I going crazy or should these all be claim early on the 24th since the 24th isn’t a public holiday so would be the working day before all of these dates?

These should both be the 31st.

These should all be the 2nd.

The BACS process would complete on the working day after the payment date. GPE would be available on the working day before that date.

The latest one of them is already shown as a claim early on the 24th. All earlier ones - Nope

One of them already is. As for the other - Nope

One of them already is. For the other 2 - Nope

I have no idea what that is intended to describe.

I’m doubling down on this. The dates you’ve given are absolutely incorrect.

Let’s take normally getting paid on 26th December for example. You’ve said the payment would be available on 23rd December at 4pm.

If Monzo didn’t pay it early or you banked elsewhere:
The payment wouldn’t arrive on the 26th because it’s a bank holiday.
The payment wouldn’t arrive on the 27th or 28th because it’s a weekend.
The payment would arrive on Monday 29th December.

Now for get paid early to take place, you need to look at the working day before the 29th December.

As we’ve already established this can’t be the 28th, 27th or 26th.
It also can’t be the 25th because it’s a public holiday.
The 24th is the last working day prior to the 29th December, so the payment would be available to claim early at 4pm on the 24th December.

I’m not sure how you’ve jumped to the 23rd?

Check out the statement in my initial post:

“Here is a breakdown of the possible pay dates for incoming BACS and Faster Payments receipts into :monzo: bank accounts over the 2025/2026 Xmas/New Year period - noting that employers may choose to pay salaries earlier than normal at this time of year and this list of dates assumes the :monzo: Paid Early feature remains operational:”

So ‘elsewhere’ is irrelevant in your double-down, when applied to my initial post. And ‘If Monzo didn’t pay it early’ is also just as irrelevant in your double-down.

So…

If you normally get paid (BACS) on 26-Dec, then because 26-Dec is a bank holiday, you’d get paid on 25-Dec. But 25-Dec is also a bank holiday so then you’d get paid on the 24-Dec. Monzo allows you to get paid early - as per the above described conditions - so you could claim from 4pm on 23-Dec

I can see where you’re getting this wrong here now. You seem to be implying that due to the bank holiday the BACS processing cycle will complete a working day earlier and the customer will be paid earlier than usual, when in fact the holiday causes the process to complete a working day later.
That’s where you’re mixing things up.

Reminder set for 8.5 months from now to see how it pans out.

Unfortunately I’m a faster payments guy. But MrsW is a BACS girly and my previous calcs have been based on those. And they have, so far, never failed - if you’re BACS, you get paid a day earlier when bank holidays happen (not a day later)

I guess what confuses me most is the fact that you got it right last year:

If you applied the same logic you’ve applied to 2025/26 then you would have said claim early at 4pm 23-Dec 2024.

Erm.. that’s exactly what I said in my initial post in this (2025/2026) thread for the upcoming 2025/2026 period:

“Usually paid (BACS) on 26-Dec, claim early @ 4pm on 23-Dec” (conditions permitting)

Are you OK?
