I think they recently stopped using the platinum label for their other cards. Now just “everyday” or “Cashback everyday”.
Are all Costco warehouses restricting parking for 2 hours only? I go to Thurrock and they do. Please advise?
NOTE: whilst 2 hours is generally long enough on some occasions it isn’t.
This is one of those situations where it was free to park for as long as you like then signs were affixed without warning to state two hours only. Most people would have not even looked and carried on parking for as long as they wanted. If there are lengthy queues, you’re getting petrol, having your tyres fitted or having something in the café then two hours isn’t long enough.
Thanks for that. I’ll check next time I go to see if parking can be extended.
My Costco card stays in the car, only to be used for filling up petrol. Same for my wallet as this is literally the only purchase which I have to use a physical card for.
My card has a handy cubby in front of the arm rest which is ideally sized for storing these cards to instantly grab.
I do find it interesting how many cards people carry. Especially on a forum like this where I’d just assume people are very tech forward.
I was wondering about that too. I’ve a Coventry cash card which doesn’t have NFC so can stay with the phone, for the very rare times that I need cash. Everything else is on gpay.
I’d odd that contactless isn’t more widespread at pumps. My local Sainsbury’s has recently had its pumps upgraded, but I’m still having to go inside because they don’t support contactless at the pump.
Also, surely by this point I should just be able to register my numberplate online, assign a card for payment, tell the pump I want to pay with my linked card and then just drive off after paying for fuel?
It’s not like it’s some kind of mythical future technology…
Shell have this, maybe even BP?
So they do, I’ll have to try it.
Not tried it myself tbh, unsure how much a faff it is
I used the Esso app to put £20 on the pump, it didn’t work and I never got my money back…
I think it’s because of some safety thing about not using your phone at the pump. Contactless with a card would be fine, not with a phone.
Thing is, across many other places in Europe it’s pretty normal for pay at pump to support contactless. It’s really just us at the moment.
I have seen at Asda where they recently removed the cashier window and switched it to entirely automated, they placed in the new card readers to enable contactless pay at the pump.
I always have physical cards on me, an Amex which I do most of my main spending on, followed by an HSBC Rewards M/C for places that don’t accept Amex. I also have my debit card (but I don’t really buy anything on that, mainly have it for cash withdrawals) and a Virgin Atlantic M/C just in case as a backup, along with usual driver’s license, coffee loyalty card, clubcard, nectar, costco card etc.
Nothing on my phone. I did have another card in the google wallet just as backup but the entire phone flaked out and I never bothered to re set it up again. I find it no burden to carry the physical payment cards tbh, and they’ll always be more reliable.
How do you set it up?
Just to keep this on topic, I usually carry nothing, or a travel card holder with my debit card and driving licence.
I’ve got a “proper” wallet somewhere but have little use for it.
How is the new Natwest Credit Card?
I use to just have my national trust membership card in Apple wallet
Might just not have a clue it’s possible to get in digital format so be no wiser
Just use to be asked how I did it but it scanned just fine
