But then I can’t just happen to get the Costco card by “accident” to impress ‘da laydeees’
On a serious note though there’s a few reasons why I keep it on me. Firstly I hate rummaging through the glovebox and the Costco petrol pump in Bham is always crazy busy so for efficiency having it in my wallet means I don’t need to look for it. Then when I’m visiting my parents often they’ll take advantage of me being home to chauffeur them to Costco and they almost always forget their own card so its useful for me to have it. Finally I have 5 cards in total I EDC, the Costco card is hardly a burden… I use a Bellroy card sleave and the FD card lives in the front I very very rarely need to pull the tab to slide out my other cards tbh.
Do they have signs up or actively telling people? Because I live within 20-40 minutes of 2 Costco warehouses and have never been told a time limit on parking, I have never looked at any signs either as I never spend that long in there lol.
My local one (Cardiff) is in a retail park so car parking is shared between all businesses. It’s limited to 3h but they have a terminal by the checkouts to register for 3 additional free hours.
This is one of those situations where it was free to park for as long as you like then signs were affixed without warning to state two hours only. Most people would have not even looked and carried on parking for as long as they wanted. If there are lengthy queues, you’re getting petrol, having your tyres fitted or having something in the café then two hours isn’t long enough.
My Costco card stays in the car, only to be used for filling up petrol. Same for my wallet as this is literally the only purchase which I have to use a physical card for.
My card has a handy cubby in front of the arm rest which is ideally sized for storing these cards to instantly grab.
I do find it interesting how many cards people carry. Especially on a forum like this where I’d just assume people are very tech forward.
I was wondering about that too. I’ve a Coventry cash card which doesn’t have NFC so can stay with the phone, for the very rare times that I need cash. Everything else is on gpay.
I’d odd that contactless isn’t more widespread at pumps. My local Sainsbury’s has recently had its pumps upgraded, but I’m still having to go inside because they don’t support contactless at the pump.
Also, surely by this point I should just be able to register my numberplate online, assign a card for payment, tell the pump I want to pay with my linked card and then just drive off after paying for fuel?
It’s not like it’s some kind of mythical future technology…
