We’re working on joint accounts!

There are a couple of previous feature request topics about moving transactions to different cards. This one appears to have the most votes:

I’m waiting for virtual cards to be announced to Joint Accounts before I open one for exactly that, being able to use for food shopping and other pots. I currently do this from my own current account.

Is there any update on when this will be available for Joint Accounts?

If you haven’t done so already, add to the pressure for Plus/Premium features for Joint Accounts (which would include Virtual Cards) by voting for the feature here:

It’s currently the number 1 requested feature - although there are no guarantees it’ll ever be available just because of this popularity.

Im still waiting for some response on why I was declined a joint account - but given a flex account!

How can I be worthy of credit, but not a zero overdraft account :joy:

I now have all my finances besides car, investements and joint account under monzo. Let me have this last win!

Hey Georgia, is there any further update on what’s coming for Joint Accounts?

I’ve just opened one with my partner and I’m looking forward to using it in a similar way to my Personal Premium Account, but as you say, the experience isn’t there yet. Thanks

So got a response from the customer services team declining my appeal for the joint account, and as expected - unable to provide any information as to why.

So, during the time that ive been declined for a joint account - theyve given me a personal loan, a flex account, 2 business accounts - both my personal and business accounts have very healthy balances.

They’re happy to lend me money, and have over 6-figures across my accounts - but a joint account for my wife and i just doesnt fit criteria…I doubt I’ll ever fully understand what I am missing…

@georgiajohnson - any more scope one when “access to joint accounts” is going to improve? Or loose guidelines on standard criteria.

Access to joint accounts has improved, you’re just not eligible, and Monzo will not tell you the reason why.

And as mentioned earlier, with joint accounts it’s not just you being evaluated. It’s the other party too.

As you mentioned you’ll never know why so unfortunately you just have to draw a line and move on.

A joint account application is for two people though, are you sure it’s not an issue on your wife’s end?

I had considered this - but since they’ve also given her a business account, a flex account, and she also has around £100k in balances with a high 900crsdit score.

I’m confident it’s not that either.

She’s employed on around £60k a year.
I’m self-employed earning considerably more.

If someone could say “ahh it’s your credit score, or you don’t earn enough” I’d be content to accept it. But when there’s no reason I can identify, I find it frustrating. Given that I am a finance broker and have a fairly good grasp on a large number of criteria and positions for my clients, debt, and private banking.

I hate the Starling joint account we use (which is linked to Monzo so they can also see the balance in that!!)

I know this is the standard response.

I just find it so unsettling!

Upvoted on the parity post but just wanted to also add comment that we’re seriously considering a move of two accounts and our JA to Starling if virtual cards from JA isn’t added soon.

Guessing there’s technical reasons and pricing reasons this isn’t simple but it’s top of our feature requirements.

It’s annoying that there was a flurry of “we are working on JAs” stuff from staff, but that just turned out to be removing whatever blockage there was in the onboarding pipeline, and we’ve seen no new features or aubsequent references to new features. Or, rather, feature partity. Two. Simple. Things. Custom Categories and Virtual Cards. Why, oh why, don’t Monzo care :frowning:.

There doesn’t seem to be any real updates to this thread since launch.

@georgiajohnson - any news ?

Do they have to reply within a month? I emailed them and haven’t heard anything back as of yet, not fully been a month yet

Bit annoying as we want to switch out joint account from virgin over :person_facepalming:

If you were denied and you’re hoping they’ll change their mind, I wouldn’t hold out much hope!

@npc_06 wasn’t denied, so that situation is different.

Oh didn’t realise that, do we know if it affects it if you’ve had a joint account with someone else in the past?
