We’re working on joint accounts!

Well I am running out of possible “reasons” for being declined. Today I closed my flex, my overdraft, and my Monzo loan.

With a high credit score, good balances in my accounts, no debt, and a very healthy business account… about the only thing left may just be that I had a Joint account with a previous partner a few years back. I hadnt considered THAT being the cause…

It was the opening post in this thread which said We’ve been working to make access to joint accounts easier.

Rightly or wrongly, I would read that to suggest that something changed and more people could now access the accounts.

Yes, hence lots of people in this thread now having joint account. The change had already happened when this thread was started.

You’ve misquoted the sentence to try and prove your point. You’re not eligible.

I didn’t misquote - it was a direct quote. Nor did I paraphrase to skew to context.

The issue is surrounding the “why” of eligibility. As it is with many others that cannot comprehend why their business is suitable for many areas, but not the JA.

You’re not going to be told why.

Ok so is it just me, ever since opening a joint account I find it way too easy to transfer money from the joint account without realising. Done it a few times now. Is this the right thread?
Anyone got any tips for me to stop doing that :joy:

I’ve used the wrong account a few times. It’s not ideal but I don’t have any better ideas

Now that is something I would have never thought to mention! They may still have a link in your respective credit reports, so maybe :man_shrugging:

Can we get back on topic to custom categories please.

I’d love to see overdrafts being offered on JAs. It’s not hard if both already have overdrafts in their personal account.

Well I paid off the monzo loan and closed the flex account. The monzo JA page says not eligible still, but presume that’s still an automated response from before.

However - monzo app just offered me a £25k new loan…

Emailed through to the Review team, not hopeful, but fingers crossed. Surely if they’re immediately offering me debt I must not be unsuitable for a zero-credit joint account !

That was never going to resolve it.

You’re far overthinking it. Just move on.

Virtual cards for joint pots please. With so many bills on recurring card payment these days it’s a real must for us so we can separate joint bills from joint spending.

VC’s on Joint accounts will likely need paid tiers on Joint accounts.

If you haven’t done so already, add to the pressure for Plus/Premium features for Joint Accounts (which would include Virtual Cards) by voting for the feature here:

I love that they are working on investments and stuff, but it’s just such a shame that so obviously joint accounts aren’t going to get virtual cars or - more important IMHO - custom categories any time soon. There’s been zero indication that anyone is actively working on these.

Yup. Zero indication for the last 5 years. So.

This very thread from just over 2 months ago confirmed JA’s were being worked on?

New card, pot-to-pot transfers & IASP with JA’s - all implemented.

The key line is:

Everything comes to he who waits
Something will come to he who has Joint account :soon:

@davidwalton Maybe the latest beta release today will turn up some news in the teardown ? Maybe not. But all the teams seem very busy implementing stuff, so I think we just need to be patient and wait

I dunno you never see anything in the teardowns. I’m getting unhopeful.

The new merchant corrections system wasn’t shown in the teardowns so that came as a surprise to everyone.
