They’re not trying to get people to switch their current account to Monzo (at the moment?), but to upgrade from the prepaid to the current account. This is a ~3 minute process and adds FSCS backing to the person’s money.
Even with CASS, asking someone to switch their current account is probably going to be a much harder sell than asking them to convert their prepaid card to an upgraded version of the ‘same’ thing.
You’re upgrading the account, not the app! Having said that, as previously announced, they are dropping support for iOS 9 at this point so that may be a limiting factor for some.
As long as the prepaid app functions, you can still use that app Just update it through the App/Play Store Android 5 or iOS 9 are the minimum requirements
Yes, it appears there was a tiny glitch for the small handful of us the Monzo fairies blessed with a nice glittery current account who never wanted a prepaid card. @anon76573274 couldn’t possibly have known and Monzo’s amazing
Hi I heard If I upgrade to the Monzo Debit - I have would have to give up my normal current account as in do a switch to be upgraded on Monzo. Is this true?
I’m unsure if you’re trolling, but, in the context of current accounts, the term used is generally understood in the context of CASS, which is why I provided clarification.
