Happy to hear the things are still steadily moving forward.

(Heather) #4

This will make a lot of people who have been waiting very happy :+1:

#5

How long will prepaid cards continue to work, please?

(Adam Robertson) #6

Great work guys! When can we expect the waiting list to start updating? I’m stuck on the same number…appreciate this might be in the new couple of days, but just looking forward to seeing that number tick down!

(Michael) #7

They will stop working next year, but you’ll be given 2 months notice. There is no firm date yet, judging from the post.

#8

Hi, that’s great news!

But what happens to my old card? Will it stop functioning?

The thing is, now I’m abroad and I’m bit concerned that my card will stop functioning when I tap the “upgrade” button.

Would you suggest to wait until I’m back?

#9

Thank you :+1:

(Jolin) #10

Your old card won’t stop functioning until you receive the new card and activate it in the app. So you can tap the “upgrade” button now, but the upgrade won’t actually complete until you get the card and activate it. But at least it will be ready and waiting when you get home.

(Bradley) #11

I’m pretty sure that won’t happen. As far as I’m aware, activation of the new CA card (when you receive it) will then deactive your old prepaid card… so you should never be left without a working card.

(Ian Lyon) #12

To everyone asking about their prepaid cards and if they’ll stop working when you upgrade in-app, @jzw95 and @Bradley are absolutely right. Your card will continue to work until you receive and activate your shiny new debit card :tada:

If you’ve been on the current account preview you can upgrade through the prepaid app and continue using your existing debit card as normal :+1:

(David Blooman) #13

Love that you used that tweet :joy:

(Allie) #14

Confusingly, I just received an email offering me an upgrade, but I never had a prepaid account. I’m guessing this is a glitch because I was allowed a current account early?

#15

a customer just updated their details to Monzo here. my ears pricked straight up :tada: :ear:

(Simon B) #16

A major milestone! Congrats everyone. All of you wonderful folks here have really helped us to make this as smooth as possible since the first preview rollout events this summer. Thanks for joining us on this mad ride.

Next step - getting as many folks as possible to do the upgrade! We’re going to need all of you to help. I bet everyone knows at least one person who is holding off on upgrading as they aren’t entirely sure what it means. So let’s do what we can to help them through the process.

We’d rather not have too many people leaving it to the last minute when we get to the point early next year when we end prepaid :slightly_smiling_face:

(Brian Hunter) #17

Not to be a broken record, but it’s a hard sell without CASS.

I did get a friend (the one who recommended Monzo to me in fact) to upgrade last week. However I know most people couldn’t be arsed with the hassle right now i’m afraid.

#18

Well, It’s still good to confirm this

#19

Yep. If you can reduce friction, more will move.

(Jordan Fish) #20

Yeah, that will have been me – sorry! I actually didn’t realise we had anyone with a Current Account and no prepaid yet. Could you drop me a DM so I can investigate a couple of things with how your account works?
