We didnāt find out where we were going until we were at the airport.
We ended up having a nice little weekend in Luxembourg. Never would have thought to visit there, so was really happy with it.

You get the weather forecast a little before so you do at least know what to pack 
They also allowed us to put in preferences of type of holiday if we wanted to and also exclude a few countries.
Itās a great idea, but I prefer a little more control over where I stay, so I probably wouldnāt be brave enough to go with this.
LuckyTrip is what Iāve used in the past to find inspiration, but these days I just poke the dates I want into SkyScanner and see whatās cheapest and of interest.
Itās a shame itās expensive going solo using that service. But then again it is for most solo trips when booking with such.
Going solo is generally expensive, I found. Itās the accommodation costs mainly, but depending on how far oneās willing to drop their standards it can be made cheaper.

I like the idea of the hostel pods style stays, I could deal with that.
Canāt deal with open bunk beds, Iād have a panic attack.

I agree with this. Accommodation for 1 tends to be pretty much the same cost as 2 people in my experience.
I think i may use my 1p Saving Challenge for a solo holiday next year
