The Great Holiday Topic 🏖️

Back to the BA website and…

At this point, they just need to burn all of their IT systems to the ground and start from scratch. These issues have been going on for decades at this point.

I will try again tomorrow.

Try planepoints app on iOS. Worked well for me.

What is the puerto rico like in gran canaria as im going there soon

The Avios app is decent, and you can set alerts now. Although the app will only show BA metal flights.

For partner availability, you’ll need to check via the BA website (Book > Book with Avios).

Japan is a very popular route and usually gets booked up as soon as flights are loaded.

For London>Tokyo, there’s currently zero Club World flights available in December on BA mettle. There’s premium economy on 1st/3rd Dec. Economy 2/3/6/7/8/9th.

That’s one of the flights I’m leaning towards. 3rd/21st (Prem Econ both ways).

I’ll hold off for a few days and see if I get any alerts for better options.

I did see an outbound business class seat 2 days ago for December, I even got as far as the booking page and then chose to continue my search. :man_facepalming:

I guess you need to be fast with these things.

Popular destination, popular time of the year.

Maybe consider booking it and if something better comes up you’re £35 per person out of pocket (cancellation fee).

That’s probably the best idea actually, just book and cancel if needed.

They have plenty of seats in August… I don’t think I could cope with the heat/humidity though.

No idea - tend to book last minute - undiscovered/untouristy bits of France and Germany tend to go down well. Alsace off the beaten track is gorgeous - as is Lorraine. Luxembourg as well.

Rarely, if ever worth flying anything other than cattle class for that distance. Likewise posh hotels - what’s the point when you’re hardly there (well, I am, anyway)?

Likewise Michelin-starred restaurants - my palate is far too unsophisticated to appreciate this (or a bottle of wine over €20)

Speaking of BA IT; if anyone fancies some time travel:

You’ll a notification from Flighty shortly telling you that the aircraft operating your flight has changed from an Airbus A320 to a Tardis.

Some more LHR-HND seats appeared this morning. Club World outbound and World Traveller Plus inbound, in December. I’ve gone ahead and booked this time.

Unsure if I’ve achieved the best value with Avios though. 165,000 points + £524.50. Booking the same flights normally would come to £3,390. So I’ve essentially exchanged 165,000 Avios for £2865 of value. That’s approx 1.7p per Avios. Is that decent?

I travel a fair bit but rarely with Avios. Most of my trips are usually work funded. This will be my first personally funded trip in quite some time. :grimacing:

1.7p is great value for Avios. Everyone has their own valuation but mine is anything over 1p is worthwhile. Great find. :+1:

Was hard to find anything else a while back, but we did manage to find some proper beer in Porto in the past few years.

Just booked a long weekend in Paris for the beginning of October. Will be 40 years since me and my mate headed out for our sandwich year in France.

Looking forward to it, not sure either of us could run for the last metro these days though. He was over here last weekend and we were comparing knee problems. We do have two good legs between us but when age starts with a 6 rather than a 2 you have to check the last train times :joy:

This is me starting with a 3 never mind a 6. Wouldn’t even run for a bus.

I’m in Spain atm.

The Met Office app tells me to expect 37 degrees today, Apple Weather says 29 degrees.

Hoping for the latter.
