Monzo Web: Feedback Thread

The less passwords the better. They don’t always help in my opinion/increase security.

People just end up resetting them all the time and it’s often easy to reset someone else’s password if they don’t have 2FA on their email as more often than not the security questions they make you setup are basic.

Getting a refund :leftwards_arrow_with_hook:

If your card’s been stolen and any withdrawals or transactions have been made without your permission, your bank must refund the money immediately.

But you’re liable for any transactions that are made before you tell your bank your card’s been stolen, up to a maximum of £50.

You could be. And you could still have access to the internet and the residence where you are staying may still have a phone…

That’s general advice, it’s not Monzo’s specific policy which you can find here.

Completely agree.

If I’m on holiday with a broken phone I’m not going to a public internet cafe to log into my bank anyway. Thats a definite phone call

While I can see the merit in some people’s concerns, why are we not promoting people to be more responsible with their digital security rather than trying to make monzo accountable for every possible scenario?

It seems everyone has valid reasons for preferring one or the other. How about adding the option of logging in using a password alongside the magic link option?

Also are we forgetting that this is an emergency interface with limited functionality? There’s not a lot of damage anyone can do once they’ve logged in.

Yes, absolutely. If you can’t access emails then call Monzo.

I guess the point I’m trying to make is that the time spent on this is wasted for a significant portion of users who are better off calling.

Your suggestion of making COPs more accessible outside of the app seems like a more practical solution to reporting a lost card.

I agree. But if you borrowed a mates phone while away, if you lost yours, you still couldn’t log in to your emails to get the Monzo email if you had 2FA set-up.

I always think something along these lines. It’s definitely a very select group on here. I’ve learnt a lot of stuff just regularly reading the forum that I would have never known or thought to care about. Even IFTTT- I think a lot of Monzo users would never have heard of it know how to go about using it, or have devices that can be used as triggers for it. They would probably rather wait for native pot rules.

Not saying 2FA is pointless, since doubtless there’ll have been security failures or whatever- but I assumed 2FA was the equivalent of “do you see this picture of a racoon? If it is, this means this website is legit” :joy: or if it had https. I tried using Dashlane and couldn’t get used to it. I’ll just make do with my crap passwords. I tried doing really complex jumbles of characters and ended up writing them down, which completely defeats the purpose of passwords.

Which is exactly what I would have done in the first place. I will rest my case with “useless”, but then I am well into my dotage and although I worked in the iT industry not on top of things any longer.

It doesn’t appear to be working in Edge or Internet Explorer on my laptop…anybody else getting that? Won’t get past the login screen, I type my email and submit and it does nothing

Is this potentially a security risk?

Access via magic link means anyone who hijacks an email account can get into Monzo.

I know that you can’t do much on web.monzo.com (no bank transfers, for example), which is good. But still - is there a way to tighten it up?

That’s probably why it’s read only.

If they can access your email, then rather than hijacking the web interface, surely they’d download the app and have mostly full control…

They’d be able to see more. But it would still be read only.

I have an ancient Mac, running Safari 10.1.2.

The page shows me two (out of four) transactions from 6 June, and no more. The layout is all over the shop. I have a screenshot I can send in, but there’s rather more personal info on it than I’d like to post on here!

And please can we have a proper login with a password - if I’ve lost my phone, I’ve lost my e-mail and my 2FA too!

Did you check your e-mail? It should send you a link.

Could you please send that to the support team via the in-app chat or by emailing help@monzo.com?
