I’m currently making a new applet:

When :moneybag: is withdrawn from an ATM in a currency other than GBP, withdraw from a pot + add the transaction into a Google :calendar:

I’m setting this one up as I don’t want all foreign currency transactions to be taken from a pot, but ATM withdrawals will always be #TravelMoney

I will test this one when I go away in the next few weeks and assuming it works I’ll publish it for everyone :wink: (apparently you can’t amend it once it’s published!)

I was going to have a look at this for you, however I don’t see any integration of IFTTT with Apple Numbers therefore it’s not possible to do this. It’s Apple :eyes: :man_shrugging:

Thanks for taking the time and replying, good to hear from you!

That’s a bummer, I guess we will have to wait and see what comes first: IFTTT integration with numbers or Monzo’s own system for managing and exporting proper pdf expense reports with invoices attached, since Monzo unfortunately can’t be linked with the brilliant Expensify.

[Edit: Now updated to report location as ‘Online Transaction’ when there is no merchant address details. For some reason Google won’t allow ‘£’ symbol in the Event Title I have therefore but the currency in ‘()’ after the transaction amount. If anyone spots anything that you’d want to change on this, PM me]

A new creation for you all if you like to have your transactions logged in your calendar :slight_smile:

Got an odd one… I love Wasabi, but I want to only spend money there after 21:30 when they reduce the prices. Is there any way I can trigger money to be moved in/out of a Penalty Pot for spending money there before/after 21:30?

Using IFTTT platform and filter code, yes definitely.

You might have to have 2, one for withdrawing if the transaction time (or maybe current time) is after 21:30 and skipping if before that time and a second that does the reverse. I’m sure (the royal) we could assist in writing that code if you can’t figure it out

Hi there,

Looking for some help with an IFTTT applet - I hope this is the correct thread to post in.

I would like Monzo to move 15p to a Pot every time I run 1000m using Strava.

How can I achieve this? I have tried putting 0.15 in the box then ‘DistanceMetres’ 1000 as an ingredient, but it didn’t work and to be honest I don’t completely understand what I’m doing yet :slight_smile:

I’m using one to remind me to drink water 2 hours after buying a coffee… and I’m now drinking a lot more water than I used to!

I can’t create the exact steps because I don’t have a Strava account but hopefully this helps.

  1. Click on ‘IF’ and search for strava
  2. Find an action that says something like “on distance run”
  3. Follow the steps and add in 1000m. Then click ‘save’
  4. Click on ‘THAT’ and search for Monzo
  5. Click the ‘Move money to pot’ action
  6. Select your pot and input your amount. Then click ‘save’

Unfortunately the only triggers available are these;

I’ve emailed a suggestion for ‘distance run’ as a trigger to Strava - I’ll wait and see if they create it.

Hi James - might try one of these ??? don’t know whether you can then adapt the amount in the applet - I would assume so but Im not registered with Strava so haven’t seen it - usually there is a cog - top right - to change the settings/ amounts in the applet

Ahhh it looks like you’re quite limited with options on Strava. Fingers crossed you hear back from them soon :crossed_fingers:

I don’t think there’s a way to do this at the moment without using the IFTTT Maker Platform and using custom code. Would be interesting to see if anyone here figures it out.

Yeah this is what I want to do, but after adjusting the amount. It would be brilliant if Strava could give you some control over it somehow.

So within a day or two I will have a method to share where you can:
*Move a percentage of the transaction value to a pot

  • Transfer a random value between 2 values to pot each time you spend
  • Round up to nearest 10 or 100 for the big spenders
    *And a couple of others

All just fun based, so hopefully might help nudge the savings in pots up.

Any suggestions of some logic/math based scenarios you can think of?

Will be done via 2 IFTTT applets, will share after a bit more testing…

Here is my travel :moneybag: applet. Withdraws money from a pot for any ATM withdrawals made in foreign currency (skips all GBP transactions and also any foreign currency card payments… ATM only). Enjoy.

Unfortunately I’ve not be able to test as fully as I’d like as my card was eaten by an ATM (while testing). Please PM me any feedback good or bad!
