I don’t have Jaja myself, but their features page mentions
Smart timeline with search, tags and prompts
Realtime notifications and control
Search, in particular, is something Amex does not have that I would like to have.
Also, it’s not mentioned as a feature on their features page (aside from mention of tags), but if Jaja provide useful rich transaction information (e.g. parsed merchant names, transaction location, transaction notes, transaction history at merchant) I can definitely see myself preferring it to Amex. After getting used to rich transaction information in Monzo, its something I do want in a credit card and something that Amex doesn’t really provide.
The search works well - it searches across merchants, locations and tags.
I checked with them on the due date of 30th and was told DDs wouldn’t be taken this month but will be ready next month. I made a manual payment but they did say there would be no late payments recorded with any CRAs and any charges would be refunded.
The timeline, search and notification features have been advertised on Jaja’s webpage since it was first announced (or at least since I first became aware of them last year).
The rich transaction information stuff is just stuff I would like to see. I don’t actually know what information Jaja gives for each transaction.
I’ve just sent Jaja a shity message putting it politely, my minimum payment was do out on the 5/5/19 which I know it’s a Sunday, I had a direct debit set up for last 2 months, (yet they never collect a payment amount I set up) yesterday the 3/5/19 I made 3 payments putting me well over the minimum payment bring asked of £8.35, just incase I get charged, this morning I login and find at midnight I was charged (already) a £12 late payment fee! Was so bloody angry, anyone else had something similar? Yet they have never charged me any interest…
We’re trying to learn from the mistakes of some companies in the Fintech arena, who we’ve watched leave customers frustrated and in the dark. We want to be open and clear about what we’re offering, and when we’re offering it. We don’t want to fudge the truth or put you off – that’s not what we’re about. Simplicity, honesty, fairness. This ethos extends throughout our company not just the product we’re building.
