An update… The Monzo iOS app now generates statement PDFs that are A4 size
At first I was 
And this is definitely an improvement. But…
The contents of the file are still clearly not formatted for A4 
I know it’s a small thing, but the result is that there are huge margins at the bottom of each page, so you end up with more pages than necessary and a lot of white space. The side margins are also quite a bit bigger than they need to be, but this doesn’t effect the amount of information on the page in the same way:
I know that statements are very ‘legacy’, but I wish Monzo would put a bit of care into making them look like they’re not a hack.
Edit: To add insult to injury, you also get lines that are cut off halfway down because the page breaks aren’t inserted cleanly between rows. So a chopped line and then a huge bottom margin
