iOS 18

I beg to differ

Tried it, not really impressed. Lightroom alongside the standard healing tool has an ā€œA.I poweredā€ one now which is light years ahead.

I used to hate having to open files into Photoshop to use the better content aware fill/object removal options, just because the Lightroom equivalents were sooo bad. Not anymore though!

Ah. The priority summary thing in mail on 18.1 just aided a phishing email, and had it been anything more than a simple listener to see if Iā€™d click the link, thereā€™s a good chance Iā€™d have been phished today.

It was an accurately targeted phishing email sent to the email I have registered with a certain company telling me my payment had lapsed and to fix it within two days.

Apple earmarking this email as a priority, in addition to the fact it got in to my inbox and not junk, gave it greater authority and I trusted it, when I otherwise might have been more skeptical. Clicking the link, which sent me through a bunch of redirects to the google homepage is what gave it away in the end. Upon inspecting the headers on my Mac I have no idea how this managed to get into my Xbox at all, let alone fool Apple to the point of suggesting it as a priority email that required urgent attention.

Apple Intelligence is certainly a little sporadic. Iā€™m finding it useful for events and silencing other notifications as part of an updated focus mode - and highlighting calendar invites but, as with you, so far much less so in terms of what it deems as a ā€˜priority itemā€™ in a mailbox.

Occasionally, itā€™ll highlight one and I think ā€˜great, really glad it did thisā€™ but often itā€™ll be as you say spam. I feel itā€™s easily gamed currently by someone putting a upcoming timeslot (such as an event within 10 minutes of the email) or ā€˜urgentā€™ in the title.

Will be interesting to see if over time it learns and improves how it flags emails here.

I hope your Microsoft account is safe

So, quick question about iOS 18 - is there a ā€˜softwareā€™ version of the new Camera Control button thatā€™s coming on the iPhone 16 for older phones? Does the new camera app have something similar built in?

Nah itā€™s just a feature thatā€™s enabled on the model number

Not even an update today, as it can be on a Tuesday sometimesā€¦ thatā€™ll be 3 weeks between 18.1 betas

On 18 RC you have to save the iPhone!

New Airpod pros 2 update is out with the yes/no head gestures

Awaiting the ā€œFDAā€ to sign off everything else, although Iā€™m sure it wonā€™t come to the UK

I hope the rest of the air pods pro stuff does eventually come to the UK. I accept it may have to be approved.

Honestly, I donā€™t know why the federal drug Association need to sign it off

I was at the FTC I canā€™t remember

Our regulators prob wonā€™t even look at it.

Because they are using (and selling) it as a medical device. The FDA is quite a hefty regulator in the US compared to ours here and they tend to like oversight over any medical claims.
