So two designs then
Have you seen the customisation options they are introducing with the new design? You can add and remove individual sections on the home screen. It almost does what I want. It’s not one design and not two designs but a wholly different layout system that is clearly meant to be extensible.
The customisation is not going to stretch to creating a new screen.
That allows you to tweak the main Home Screen and hide/unhide, move elements around doesn’t it.
What I believe you are talking about would be to allow customisation to allow for a merge of the new Home Screen and the old swipe card UI.
Can’t personally see that happening. Keeping old elements will create load from having to maintain them too I’d imagine.
I don’t see a technical reason why one of the elements I can enable shouldn’t be a list of transactions in a scroll view. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same as before.
Never going to happen.
Option to try new layout appeared today. Background: I am a cloud engineer so reasonably tech capable. I have a personal and a Joint Monzo account, each with multiple pots
The Good:
- Thanks for making this opt-in so I was not confronted with a new interface without warning at an awkward moment.
The Bad:
- I was offered a choice of 2 different layout variations when I first activated. I selected the default but I was unable to get back to that screen to try the alternative, even going back to old interface then new again did not present it. This breaks POLA
My Feedback:
Whilst I appreciate the desire to encourage user discovery, sorry, not for me like this and switched back within minutes:
-
Budgets and ‘left to spend’ on Homescreen. UI garbage for me I am afraid. These are (understandably given my situation) never accurate in my case and I don’t like to be confronted with them. It was good that I could turn these off fairly easily.
-
Showing accounts stacked at the top with a unified view of transactions below. This is awful for me. I want to be absolutely clear of which context I am viewing and acting at an account level. I don’t want to be confronted with a unified view.
-
Unified view of pots in a side scroller below. See above
-
Accessing pots from within ‘account’. OK so I have to INDIVIDUALLY switch each pot back from ‘Manage’ to ‘Feed’ but at least then they present more or less as before. UNFORTUNATELY there doesn’t appear to be a ‘Zoom out’ type functionality as on the existing interface style to see all accounts with all pots grouped for each. Yes there is a ‘view as list’ but this is only for the unified view…
-
The totals for all pots being displayed is really unhelpful to me. Half the reason I put money in the pots is so that I DON’T have to be confronted with this info…
A Typical Use Case for Me
-
I get paid into my own account
-
I put some of my salary into my joint account and sort it into pots, including one for groceries
-
I sort the remainder in my personal account into various pots
-
I go to the supermarket where I want to pay for some items from my personal account and some from my ‘Groceries’ pot in my joint account
-
I go the self checkout and ring through the items to pay from my personal account
-
I ring through the remainder of the items to pay from my joint account
-
I transfer the payment value from my groceries pot to my ‘root’ joint account
-
I make payment from my joint account
I need to be able to do this with as little ambiguity as possible. This may be a simplified example as there are further pots for further purpose. The new layout makes this workflow much harder for me because it is focussed on a unified view rather than a context-specific one.
It’s weird that hiding pots from the homepage removes them from the detailed view as well. Highly inconvenient.
I want to be able to choose which pots I want to see on the homepage (like a favourite) so I can easily access my most used pots without and then go to the account pages for pots I use less regularly.
Also Weird that you can’t change the order of the elements on the homepage. Transactions isn’t as important to me and would like to move it below pots but it’s not possible.
Also I would like to see the transactions for my personal account and joint account separately, it’s confusing that they’re all in one list together
@AlanDoe can this be merged with the existing thread please? There is a lot of duplication and I wouldn’t want anything to get missed.
OK, I am going to have to admit to the following:
Initially I hated the new app for a whole variety of reasons but…
Having used it for a couple of days now I have moved from ‘hate to acceptance’. I might even go so far as to say that it is growing on me. Mind you I do have some issues with it but perhaps I do not know how to ‘drive’ it properly yet. I do not want to see the ‘Pots’ (I don’t use Pots and do not want to create on) and ‘Feedback’ on the main page - so I want to remove them from view.
On another subject is there a thread about atrocious ATM screens as I want to nominate Santander.
I hate the fact I can’t just swipe between accounts anymore. I want to see the information separately not lumped together, but I want it to be quick to change accounts. I really really don’t want to have to be clicking on a drop-down or on a back button when before it was just a side swipe.
I hate that fact I can’t just swipe from one account to another, it was so much faster. Anything that involves having to tap the top left hand corner is just a no.
Click one of your cards, boom, back to individual swipes
This one needs locking too
