Pure planet just contacted us to arrange install of a 2nd gen smart meter. Should make things more continent moving forward.
I’ve read somewhere that although aren’t fitting meters yet (but plan to start in late 2019), they could use existing 2nd Gen meters. I have a Gen1 meter fitted at the mo, so I’ll play the waiting game as its not an urgent requirement.

Both are great pieces of tech, the key difference between SMETS1 and SMETS2 is that SMETS2 have the inbuilt functionality to let you change supplier without losing their ‘smart’ ability. However, existing SMETS1 meters will be upgraded remotely (with no engineer visit required) with this functionality later this year.”
So if I read that right, I’ll just wait until my meter is remotely upgraded.
I almost went with Eversmart and thank god I didn’t as they have now ceased trading.
Just started my supply with https://green.energy/ who are a fairly new supplier.
Their customer service response times are rapid. But let’s see how good they are as they grow.
