Desktop version of the Monzo app (full feature Monzo Web)

Monzo have recently expanded the web app for the business account, and I’m sure I read elsewhere that the intention is to expand this into the personal accounts, but no indication of when.

Yeah, it feels like it could be replicated for personal accounts too.

Business accounts was a smaller sample size to test it on.

I’ve also been looking for a personal banking service that offers a fully featured online experience but no luck. The only options I know of would be classical banks such as Lloyds, which I have used in the past and I’ve actually considered going back for this very reason.

Have a look at what Monzo have done for their business customers. They’ve not ruled out bringing it to personal accounts.

I recently joined Monzo and have been loving it so far.

However, there is one feature that I wish Monzo offered: online banking for personal customers.

I am aware that there is a Monzo Web service but it’s very basic and you can’t make transfers or order a card replacement which I think would be extremely useful if you were unable to access a mobile device or preferred using a larger screen to manage your account.

I think that having a more feature-rich online banking facility would be of benefit to many customers and I just feel like Monzo is lagging behind in this area (even Starling has launched online banking).

This has been suggested before. You can vote for it below:

It’s live for business customers and they did say that would be a good test for personal accounts to get the feature but I wouldn’t hold your breath for it anytime soon.

Thanks for replying. I’ve heard that it’s available to business customers and do hope that they introduce it to the personal accounts in the future, however long that may be!

Hi Aaran & welcome

Good to hear your experience with :monzo: is good :+1:
The ‘online’ app (as in, on your phone) is the focused approach to accessing your personal/joint Monzo account at this point.

Monzo has recently introduced an online (browser) access portal for Business accounts only. But there is increasing pressure for Personal accounts too- so if the Business trial goes well, we could see this accessibility ported to personal/joint accounts :crossed_fingers:

Thanks for your response.

Hopefully you’re right about it eventually being brought over to the personal accounts.

I have only just voted for this, never noticed it for some reason

Bye bye Monzo.
I did enquire about their plans for a fully featured web app, but they said they have no intention of doing this, so I had it in mind to switch.
However, my situation made it awkward to switch, so I was waiting until my situation changed. My debit card was due to expire in May or something, so that was the threshold I was looking at; but Monzo decided to cancel my card for suspected fraudulent use (I wonder what evidence they had) and issue a new one which, of course, they sent to my home address that I cannot get to due to covid.

So, they forced me to move my plans up and switch sooner, which I have done.
My initial attempt has been to switch to Natwest, but it wasn’t long before I realised they require the use of the card+reader combo to do anything significant (without a phone call), so that’s not going to work.
So I opened a Starling account and once the Monzo->Natwest switch has settled, I’ll switch again.
So far my impression of Starling is positive. Only a few niggles: 1. no high st branches, 2. while their app is on the Huawei AppGallery (unlike Monzo’s and Natwest’s), when you run it, it still says it requires GMS (though, like Monzo’s, it seems perfectly functional), but at least they have a web site which is useful in any case, 3. You can’t deposit cheques dated older than 6 months (not sure if this is common or not).

Anyway, bye bye Monzo. I couldn’t live without a web site. It was nice knowing you.

Afaik it’s always been the case with all banks that cheques aren’t valid after 6 months

Good to know. Thanks for that. Perhaps it’ll make a difference that it’s from HMRC, but we will see - I may well need to get them to send another one.

NatWest online banking is awful. I would rather not have an online banking if that was the result.

The Business Account web interface is fine if they could make it available for Personal Accounts

Well, I left.

…and the ‘off-boarding’ process left a bit to be desired. It’s the same as all banks though. When leaving a bank you want to download all your statements, but with Monzo the app just hangs there with a spinner spinning…nothing…except the ‘help’ and when you ask them for help they say to email, and when you email they ask for your account details with a photo of ID and video of you…when they could just have a ‘last step’ on the app, and a ‘goodbye, and we hope to see you again some day’, which would frankly be impressive…instead of the ‘FO then’ it seems to be.

Sounds like you should have download them before you closed your account.

Is it not expected that you’d need to verify yourself if you close your account and are trying to get information about it? The same happened to me with Santander.
