Interesting to see the average figure of savings of £7.18
Iāve just calculated that the 2% booster over that time frame netted me Ā£14.14, all on shopping I would have done anyway across 5 different supermarkets.
For me certainly very much worth having had this opportunity so, thank you Monzo.
For all non-Monzo cashback spending on small-ish items, I use Algbra through the Google Wallet for 1.5% cashback (on everything)
Itās been a bit sluggish on a couple of occasions with cashback coming through but it always turns up. Iāve not encountered any difficulties with them at all.
I used them for a while but, when they ditched the 1% cashback on debit card spend and only 1.5% on Google pay transactions, I decided flipping between cards wasnāt worth the effort and emptied the account.
Because cashback filters back into the same account, it doesnāt always feel like youāre earning either (though of course you are).
And the cashback transaction does not show which Google pay transaction it relates to so kinda difficult to track.
Just double-checked. My first transaction was at the very beginning of April this year.
1% cashback on card
1.5% cashback with Google Wallet
Since then have used regularly, often daily and not encountered any problems at all.
No FSCS protection but I never have significant funds on the card for more than a few hours anyway.
I load up the card (almost instantaneous with Open Banking) before I go out wuth whatever I think I might need and then at the end of the day or whenever transfer the remainder back off to an interest-bearing account.
For impulse buys, it would be easy to transfer funds in on-the-fly. For more expensive purchases, I use either my Flex card or my Stooze credit card.
On a couple of occasions, there has been a small lag over what is normal in cashback coming through but communications from Algbra have always been good and the lag has been pretty insignificant overall.
For me personally, itās so straightforward and hassle-free that it wouldnāt make sense not to do it.
There is a time-cap on the 1.5% for me of, I think, end of February next year.
I havenāt had time to check what the time-cap is for new customers
Iād really like an āautomatically activate all multi-use offersā button/option. I donāt see a reason why I wouldnāt want to use them if available. And it seems unnecessary effort on my part to go and check regularly.
I understand activating the one-time offers however, perhaps saving for a specific larger purchase.
Just compared the latest cashback offers from Monzo, with those offered with my Barclays account and over 50% are similar or the same, with same retailers.
Given I can also earn 5% cashback on debit card spends with my Blue Rewards account, why would I choose to use my Monzo card?
As it happens, both lists are useless to me, so wonāt be using either, but just a thought
Yeah Iāve just looked it up, ending soon though.
Earn an extra 5% cashback on every transaction you make when you use the Barclays debit card linked to the account youāve nominated for Blue Rewards . Earn up to Ā£10 a month between 4 October and 27 December 2023

Cash transactions, like money orders or wire transfers
Gambling transactions (including a payment to a merchant we identify as being in the business of gambling, even if you werenāt placing a bet)
