Apple Watch Ultra

I’ve found that the desire to have one was definitely larger than the actual use I get out of it. At first I’d track my sleep every day, look over my workouts, all that stuff. Now I don’t interact with it too much, it works with my smart home apps so I can turn lights on and off by voice, it’s also great for setting reminders and alarms quickly. Oh actually the whole alarm feature is great, I’ve never owned another Apple Watch so maybe these are all just standard Apple Watch features, but I didn’t like how the other Apple Watches look.

If I could go back and spend the £800 somewhere else would I? Possibly, but it is a nice bit of kit to have.

@npc_06 I would also struggle to not wear a Tudor, very good choice. The 58 is on my future list so not sure what will happen to my Apple Watch at that point

I was a fan of the ‘traditional’ watch and have half a dozen. Then when I got my first Apple Watch (series 1) I handed them all over to my father. He died a couple of years ago and I ‘got them back’. Then the Father-in-law died and I inherited three Seiko watches from him. They are all now sat in a draw, collecting dust.

My Ultra is just everything I want from a watch. So my question is who buys old watches that didn’t cost all that much in the first place?

This year’s Ultra (due in September) is supposed to be a bit slimmer with even better battery life so, as @ndrw suggested, wait until then.

I’ve heard of Ebay so will have a look. Thanks.

We really need a watch thread, but…

My Dad still wears the same watch he got as a 21st B’day present, he’s 72…

That same watch has served him well, been on many adventures etc. Even if an apple watch had existed back in t’day, I doubt he would’ve kept the same one. So for me I think the value of watches like that is less financial, more emotional.

A watch thread would be great.

I’m in the same boat, don’t know why I didn’t jump last year, will go all in if it’s refreshed

I’m not sure about if I want it refreshed or not. I want an Ultra and will probably jump and buy one later this year (my S7 battery is barely lasting a day at the moment so want to upgrade anyway).

However, as this is double the price, I’d rather they had the Ultra on the same ‘refresh cycle’ as the SE - so not an annual refresh but every other year or so.

What more can they add to the watch now that’ll make it significantly better than the previous model? Faster chip? Would that really be noticeable?

There’s a supposed a significantly faster chip coming to all watches this year, so that’s a good enough reason for me

Best watch I’ve had. I won’t be upgrading it this year. Will likely be a 3 year cycle for me.

New phone however….

Ultra is best bit of tech I’ve bought in years, size nearly put me off it, but it’s light and I hardly know I’m wearing it most of time. It’s expensive, would like to think I’d keep it at least 3 years.

I have other things taking my money the end of this year, but otherwise I’d be allllll over a space grey/black Ultra.

Unity Lights. Simple and attractive. Like me.

The default Wayfinder watch face with my favourite complications. I like a busy watch face!

Another vote here for the Siri watch face.

I’ve now gone low complications with California as now using Stacks with WatchOS 10!

I keep hoping they will release a slightly smaller version this year. I have tiny wrists and I would look like a wannabe gangster in the current one.

I use the world timer with specifically the dark olive colour scheme. I really wish they’d release more decent digital watch faces, for a digital watch it’s extremely lacking. I also manage a team with a lot of people remote and in different countries so makes life easier knowing quickly what time it is where they are.

@Stompy have you tried one in in person yet? My wrists are small but I got used to it. My partner thought it’d be ridiculous but even she warmed up to it and now loves how it looks
