Amazon Prime Video

So Amazon now own (deal going though) James Bond and many other franchises.

Can’t wait to see the new Bond film when they finally get to release date at cinemas.

I think they own half of Bond, with Eon still owning the other half and I believe most of the final say.

I hope they’ll put the new Bond on Prime Video as I’d love to see it but I’m in no rush to sit in a poorly ventilated closed space with a bunch of strangers anytime soon!

Problem solved :man_shrugging:

Ugh. I bet that means there’s loads of old MGM films that won’t get released now. (See also: Disney’s purchase of Fox)

On the other hand, Bezos buys MGM for Trump kompromat?

It would be great to see if they could release it, but I’m sure Trump would have ensured rights to view footage for release as part of his contract for being on the show. It was also originally produced by Trump Productions which means he would have had more leeway to dictate the contract. Here is a quote regarding releasing extra footage from a few years back:

In 2016, just weeks before the election, MGM and Burnett released a joint statement in which they said, “Despite reports to the contrary, Mark Burnett does not have the ability nor the right to release footage or other material from The Apprentice . Various contractual and legal requirements also restrict MGM’s ability to release such material.”

Anyone else watching The Wheel of Time? I’m loving it! I read the first book this year because I knew the show was coming out and so far haven’t been disappointed! The casting is spot on and aside from a few changes from the book, they seem to have nailed the characters and feel of the world. Glad it’s already been renewed for a second season!

Just had a quick browse. There are 14 books in the series!

Tempted to get reading. May have to check more reviews first as that’s a serious time investment.

I have it on good authority (including from one friend who, every time a new book in the series came out, would re-read all the books before the new one each time) that the books start off OK, but past a certain point there’s so much padding in them that the story isn’t actually making any progress at all, which put me right off.

The fact that Brandson Sanderson finished the series after Robert Jordan died means that there is an end point, at least; but there may be quite a slog to get there.

I’m really struggling with it. It feels more like Xena/Hercules from the 90s than Lord of the Rings. There’s just something about the production - it’s partly the acting, and the script, but also the editing. I think GoT spoiled me, it was so well done and looked so great almost all the way through that everything else just looks bad in comparison.

One thing was bothering me - the way they talk. It’s all very casual and not very ‘high fantasy’ like in GoT (where the strong British accents really worked for the actors), but after reading a bit about the world history in the books, its a bit more forgivable. (I may be wrong, but I understand they had an age where they were at the same level of technology as us, before it all being wiped out, so while they’re living in a sort of mediaeval age, they have had technology in their past)?

I think the scene in the first episode that wound me up was when she took the four kids off with her. Their village had been attacked, friends and family killed, and no one questioned why she was insisting they leave with her, they all just upped and left without a look back.

Responding with spoiler tags in case people who haven’t watched it yet don’t want things spoiled:

I thought Moiraine was pretty clear about the fact that what remained of their friends and families would all be murdered if they didn’t leave the village right then and there (including, presumably, them as well). That the trollocs were after them specifically and the only way to draw them away from the village was if they went right away - implying that the families would then be safe? Given what it took to push a relatively small number of trollocs back (everything Moiraine had and the whole village fighting back) - it would make sense that seeing what looked like hundreds/thousands of them coming over a hill would equate to certain death.

I’m probably least into all these kinds shows but I think wheel of time is really good so far, my fella loves all this kinda stuff same as game of thrones and the rings films and he enjoys too.

Watched episode one and frankly, unimpressed.

May return to it once finished watching other stuff.

Just watching Alex Rider if anyones seen it?

Not too shabby, quite the background entertainment tbh

Bond has finally made his way to Prime.

And to the person that asked about me following news about every streaming service on the Netflix chat, one of the teitter accounts I follow retweeted this. I dont spend my time searching for streaming news haha

Looks smart, very Netflix based on the image.

I do hope it is less annoying to use than Netflix. I think Netflix looks good, but there are just a few small things that I think make it a bit rubbish to use.

Very Netflix and Sky TV

They all seem to be moving to a similar framework
