Amazon Prime Video

Almost all of them have the same basic layout with the menus on the left etc. Even iPlayer, ITV Hub, and All 4 have moved towards it. The only ones that havent that I can think of are Apple TV, UKTV Play, and Now.

The annual price is increasing by £16 :rage:

Yeah, just seen the email.

£95 annual subscription

First price rise since 2014 apparently.

So an extra £1pm for monthly subscribers, and £1.33pm extra if you pay annually.

Do you reckon they have more annual Amazon Prime subscribers than monthly?

increased the number of products available with unlimited, fast Prime delivery;

Has seemed to be less in my opinion, or earlier cut off times, but I’m sure they’ll have numbers to back it up.

added and expanded ultra-fast fresh grocery delivery;

Not available in my area. Even though I would probably use it.

added more high-quality digital entertainment, including TV, movies, music, games, and books. Prime Video in particular has increased the number of TV series and movies on offer, including Amazon Originals, as well as live sports coverage, such as the Premier League and Autumn Nations Series.

Don’t use the free kindle service. Movies are ‘meh’ compared to other platforms. Music/Photos I don’t use. On TV, I liked Picard and Expanse and probably will like the Lord of the Rings but thats about it. Sport doesn’t have much of my team so not interested.

So not that much extra for the increase really. I have until next June to decide though. Have been cutting back on my Amazon spending.

I did wonder how long it would take Amazon UK to up Prime fees. The US had one in about 2018/19 and then earlier this year.

Try The Terminal List.

I enjoyed it, though I must admit the storyline was similar to many seen/used before.

If you like comedy there’s a bunch of stuff on there. Currently working my way through Backstage with Katherine Ryan. Last One Laughing Canada and Australia also worth a watch.

The Expense is on my to watch list, haven’t been able to make the time for it yet. Tried Cruel Summer but it didn’t really grab me.

Annoying that the increase is higher for annual payers. Will have to think carefully if I want to keep paying when my renewal date rolls around.

Increased number of products available using Prime feels like a bullshit excuse to raise prices. The whole point of Prime is to pay for free, fast shipping.

The new layout has been launched on many systems. It is definitely easier to use and just looks better. It also has its Freevee content a bit more obvious with its own tab on the side menu.

And before anyone wonders if I am watching content on all the streaming services I keep commenting on, I don’t. I currently have Disney+, Paramount+, Apple TV+, and Now, which I have cancelled as I will have watched everything I want to by the end of the monthly period. I use my parents Prime account if I want to watch anything, which isn’t very often.

Before my Prime expires on the 19th of September following my cancelling it, is there anything worth watching on Prime video before then? Anything to a similar level of quality of the bulk of Apple’s flagship shows?

I watched The Vault the other night and thought that was alright for an ensemble consisting of Actors who typically play supporting roles to bigger and better.

I did try The Expanse but just could never get into in to it.

I have Jack Ryan, The Purge, and Wheel of Time on my watch list because they sort of intrigued me, but never quite enough to warrant me seeking them out when I had nothing else to watch.

I watched the first season of the wilds. Might try to watch season 2. I recall enjoying it, but didn’t like the more gory details, which put me off.

Paper Girls, if you haven’t seen that yet.

Jack Ryan and Wheel of time were good. Season 2 of The Wilds didn’t grab me at all.

Outer Range was pretty good.

I think I tried the Expanse and couldn’t get gripped but I was inbetween the 100 too (don’t bother with the 100).

I loved the 100! One of my favourite shows!

I’ve just started The Wheel of Time. Will finish this one. The first episode got me, but honestly Rosamund Pike is always great, and she’s the reason I decided on this one for now.

And in a game of spot the actor you know, the crazy dude from Halo is in it. Never noticed him in anything prior to Halo.

Edit: why does Amazon only give you 3 seconds to stop the next episode from auto playing! Even scrambling for the Siri remote, I wasn’t fast enough to stop it. So I guess I’m watching episode 2 now.

I think The Marvellous Mrs Maisel and Clarkson’s Farm are both very good. Neither of which are shows I went into really expecting to enjoy.

The only series I’ve watched on Apple TV is Ted Lasso. I thought it was ok but didn’t go back for season 2.

The 100 was good up until around season 4 I think, can’t remember the specifics but it just got far too loop de loop familiar so that was enough for me, could’ve been a little later.

A plus one from me too

I agree, it was good to a point - but then every season was repeating the same structure, where two opposing sides set up against each other - and a (genocidal) world changing decision has to be made! Past a certain point there was no organic character growth as they were just being manipulated to fit into the required structure.

I know many think the show jumped the shark in season 3 when Lexa died. I stopped enjoying it by the end of season 4 I suppose, but still kept watching because I needed closure. However, the less said about season 7, the better! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I tried to push through as I needed to watch how it ended, might just skip to the last season and go from there :joy:

Believe me, no-one needs to see the ending. How far have you watched?
