I heard from the old man propping up the bar in my local that Starling runs on Anne Boden’s Freesat box
Now now. Speculation helps no one
Yeah, I am a true Monzo fan, they are doing really great, when I made my previous comment, it was not based on any facts just speculations myself being an IT guy, I know in Production environment, no one can rely on just very limited resources
So I am not worried at all
They are very new to this game, and eventually will become mature, but in recent times, they are having more technical issue than expected, but that’s true with any baking as such. I am just new to monzo (being on Monzo for last few months) and I believe they are doing something very clever and will sustain in long-term very well.
But you thought you better jump on the community and throw some shade first?
Did you get their email today to change PINs? because some internal staff had access to some restricted log files etc? Come on its a Bank, security should be the TOP most priority for any banks. That’s why I said lately they are having lot of technical issues, but I hope they improve from here.
I don’t recall reading that in her CEO letter today!
She’s being coy. It will be in the full report
Looking at this impartially and realistically, from a customer point-of-view; a bank that I use and trust with my money lets me know that a potential data breach could have revealed my PIN to an internal employee.
Worst case - the internal employee gives, or sells, that information to another party. The other party then starts testing for the chinks in the security armour with the knowledge that they have actual PIN numbers. 3…2…1… spam emails arrive claiming to be Monzo to provide further information and when you respond with the information needed, - your account is cleared out.
But. Monzo let me know that PINs may be compromised. So if I change my PINs (my choice and my responsibility here) then the story of ‘cash = gone’ ends.
And if I choose not to, then it’s on me if things go wrong.
My choice then. And yours.
