What's the Last Bit of Tech You Bought?

People with dogs in public are infinitely worse than people with kids.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Hard disagree but I do agree most people with dogs in public are also annoying. I say this as a dog owner.

Kids that are left to run wild, and who behave like spoilt brats I detest also.

My kids are well mannered and respectful / considerate of others.

Tantrums, depending on the age, are tricky. If young it’s just because they’re tired and that’s their way of expressing / fighting the urge to sleep. Believe me, parents hate it too.

Dog owners in general I hate. It’s the same kind of thing. They spoil them and let them run around wild with no consequences. Even if they’re told to put a dog in a lead, or see me with my dog on one, they often let it run over. It’s so careless and dangerous.

Oh 100%. Why oh why do they all assume we want to interact with their pet. If I didn’t ask to interact with your dog, keep it well away from me.

At least people with kids are doing something pretty important for society (raising children!).

They are, mine is a sweetheart, doesn’t leave my side, doesn’t interact with other dogs at all. that’s the type of behaviour I like in dogs

On the subject of dogs, I hate people who let them run free, off a leash. People could be scared of dogs, or they could cause damage to wildlife. If a dog on a leash is curious and tries to come towards me, fine. The owner will usually pull them back as I’m visibly not interested.

The worst are the people who let their bully-type dogs run around without a leash and muzzle…

Dogs that bark all day and children that exist all day have no place in my world.

Be seen, not heard.

I love my 2 year old. Can’t imagine life without her now but 1 kid is plenty. :joy:

The only dogs that I feel completely comfortable with being off a leash are greyhounds and whippets. I’ve never come across an aggressive one. We met a lovely whippet the other day in the local park. It was off a leash but it came up to us when we were sitting on a bench, wagging its tail and nuzzling. The couple who owned him were very nice, too.

I’d much prefer a dog approaching me than a small child

Walked past someone on a walk yesterday, they had 2 dogs, put both on the lead. Said when passing “The border collie is friendly, the Whippet is a dick” - so I think every dog can be a bit of a dick

I’m not 100% sure that this is going to count.

But here goes.

I’ve had a pair of AirPods for a few years and if they have taught me anything, it is that I am spectacularly proficient at making prodigious quantities of ear wax.

As each piece appears to be unique, and there is so much of it, I am seriously considering putting it out there as an alternative to Bitcoin.

Anyway, in the meantime, I have invested €4 of hard earned (in a manner of speaking) cash in one of these.

It’s an AirPod cleaner - complete with tiny pick, weeny brush, and phallic spongy bit to clean inside the case.

Enjoy!

These are very popular on TikTok and all the other short format video platforms. I wouldn’t trust them not to just push the gunk further in

I’ve had a little bit of a go and I reckon that if you make sure the bit you are cleaning faces down, then the vast majority of the gunk (as you call it - I prefer “EarCoin”) falls out.

Belkin have now released an AirPods cleaning kit which Apple sell. £12 so not too expensive either. I’m hoping to pick one up soon

Does it have Apple Intelligence?

Looks similar to my Temu purchase I made a few months ago on a multifunctional device cleaner kit:

Really great for cleaning ear pods, phone speakers, getting pocket fluff out of charging ports etc etc.

You’re not supposed to use cotton buds in your ears yet people do

I may have to get one off AliExpress

I’m sure they meant into the AirPod grills
