What's the last bit of tech you bought?

Yes, the US, UK and EU signed the Council of Europe’s convention on AI yesterday (05/09/24). It requires that “outputs of AI systems” respect equality and privacy rights and that victims of AI-related rights violations have legal recourse.

That Android box is good… enough! Plex doesn’t freeze up like the webOS version and updates will be more frequent

It’s an IR remote unfortunately

You wouldn’t even know it’s there

Unfortunately nothing I can do about the reflections

Create your own Media Server with Jellyfin! Don’t use PLEX!

I’ve used Jellyfin before, didn’t like it. Plus I’d have to move all my family and friends to Jellyfin, not happening

I have a Plex pass lifetime subscription for the last 10 years too.

Just ordered one of these for my OH

Frustratingly, I had ordered the Remarkable 2 last week for her birthday. This had been out for 4 years or so, but there was no confirmation as to when a newer model would come out. Hoping this can now be returned as it was bought online so hopefully should be fine to return under distance selling regulations.

Seems really good for those who like to scribble down lots of notes.

You don’t need to rely on the law, they offer a 100 day satisfaction guarantee.

Alas, I bought it from Curry’s. Although even their return policies seem to be okay as long as you’ve ordered online and not in-store.

Plex is better lol

Alas indeed. They have a 30 day return policy whether bought online or in store, I think.

How clever are ads these days? I read your post, didn’t click the link or anything, switched tabs to twitter…

Shhhh! They’re listening!

They actually are.

While the prospect of mobile devices listening in could be a privacy nightmare, it’s not one that would affect Apple users.

I knew this was the case for a long time. We don’t have a dog, don’t know anyone who has a dog, never looked at anything dog related because I couldn’t care less about them. And yet one day we spoke about something dog-related while in a supermarket and boom, dog food adverts for a week.

I’ve got the reMarkable 2 which I use on and off when I’m at home.

Never quite got into a good routine with it but I love it conceptually. I wish the cloud sync of it was a bit better.

Would love to play with the Pro though

Even though I returned my Sony xm4’s a couple of weeks back. I bought another pair from the duty free at the airport. :joy: Thinking I don’t want to listen to other folks crying cranky children. Right enough I was sat upfront of the plan with a baby in the seats in front. Baby in seats opposite side and diagonally. Luckily my 2 year old sat and didn’t make a sound while watching Bing on iPlayer.

I enjoyed some Bobby lee and Andrew Santino podcasts while not hearing any other surroundings.

There should be adult-only flights*. The world would be a better place.

*flights, trains, pubs, shopping hours, etc.

I would love that!

We can all band together and not have kids, curb it :joy:

For every one of us not having kids, there’ll be three sets of parents who think parenting stops at giving their screaming germ bag an iPad to watch at full volume; and then they won’t bother to try and calm them down when they have a tantrum or run around touching everything with their hand they just licked or wiped their nose with.

Parenting standards have nosedived, it feels, and yet children are the most precious thing and everyone must absolutely love children and they must be allowed to do what they want, where they want, when they want.

Not something for me. But my boss just sent me to the Apple Store with the Corporate AMEX and said “We need 4 new Macbook Pro’s”.

Ran back to the office trying to not get robbed.
