Bought a dehumidifier years ago as the flat I was renting at the time had no window in the en suite and kept getting mouldy.
When I bought my current place I discovered the bathroom extractor vents directly into the loft space so I stopped using it and brought out the dehumidifier again (I’ll get round to fixing that… eventually). Works well for the purpose. Have a tumble dryer so seldom use it to dry clothes but if I do air dry clothes I’ll put the airer near the dehumidifier and it does work well.
The one I’m looking at is 3.4 litre tank capacity, hopefully that should be good.
I’m going to pull the trigger to be honest, sick of the living room looking like a launderette all weekend. Will help the bedsheets/towels etc to dry a lot quicker, hopefully.
My current bathroom has a window but no extractor fan. My plan is to use it in there after a shower too.
We went with this a few weeks ago. It has been a game changer. It would be useful if the water tank was bigger but it is a balance on the overall size of the thing!
I also run an Arete One, I’m Apple ecosystem anyway so the Two would be pointless as it’s not HomeKit compatible.
An overlooked ‘feature’ is that it reverts to last state rather than Off/Standby after power loss, so I can run it off an Eve smart plug for energy monitoring and remote control in addition to its own humidity sensor.
I don’t think Meaco promotes this anywhere, but the Meaco app is basically a skinned Tuya app, and you can add the Meaco Two to the normal Tuya app instead of the Meaco app. So if you can connect Tuya to Apple Home (I’m not sure as I’m not an Apple user) you’ll be able to access the dehumidifier in Apple Home.
Love Meaco - have both one of their dehumidifiers and a fan (sorry, air circulator!) for summer which is super quiet.
To the AppleHome point - I just run my dehumidifier off a smart plug which comes on during sensible hours and then the dehumidifier knocks off automatically whn it reaches a sensible humidity (set at 50% I think).
My bathroom scales have broke. They were very basic so looking into smart scales. Can anyone recommend any? I’ve heard of Withings but that’s it. Would need to be HomeKit compatible.
I have a Withings Body+ (equivalent model now would be the Body Smart), made sense for me as I already had the app for my BPM Connect blood pressure monitor.
Went with the entry level model because most of the fancy cardiovascular stuff is handled by my Apple Watch anyway.
The body composition features are nonsense unless you go for the very top end ones with the conductive bar you hold, otherwise it’s just sending a signal up one leg and down the other, giving you a reading essentially just for your lower body.
There are no HomeKit smart scales that currently exist (technically for this kind of device it would be HealthKit). All the Apple compatible models are ones that sync to their own app and then pass on the data to Apple Health, like Withings do.
Personally I avoid anything from eufy that isn’t directly HomeKit compatible and can operate without using their app/servers.
