What's next for the new look Monzo app? We'll be making improvements using your feedback

Yeah, or at the very least, stick a toast or something saying “Pressing back again will close the app” just so that user’s know what’s about to happen

Yes, the UI for this is a little bit more complex than weekly (which is why we started with weekly) - but we have on our list, for sure.

Just wondering, would you be considering adding some sorta pattern detection.
Ex: “We’ve noticed you get paid every 24th, would you like to set up budgeting tools”

Seems like it would be a good way to get more people into using the tools if they haven’t already

Also… Pleeeeeease can we get a payday trigger for IFTTT

From the screenshots, I’d have to agree with this. I have a personal, joint and business account (so don’t actually have access to this new UI for some reason) but I would need a way to switch via a list, instead of having to swipe through them and our many pots!

Is there currently no way to quickly jump to a specific account?

I’m really looking forward to some of the improvements coming, especially the pots re-ordering!:partying_face::partying_face:

i’m taking a look at this v soon (this week), so hopefully there’ll be some improvements – or at least predictability – in using the back button on android :+1:

You can quickly jump between accounts by tapping on the Home tab button, but it’s a little inconsistent. We’re tidying up the rules and technical performance at the moment.

Looks good and welcome the changes. Can’t wait for pot reordering!

When will payee management be getting some love? It’s been a long time since improvements were promised. I’m on iOS.

What about people with business accounts? When will we get v3

Very good improvements and looking forward to them, especially re-ordering of pots and improved budgeting options in the future!

However one very popular feature I’ve just got to ask about whether it’s on the horizon - dark mode? Please!!

Any chance of squeezing in budget improvements for those paid on the “last Xday of the month” as well?

Yes, basically

Yes, it’s exciting to have shiny new features in the planning, but please listen to the call for consolidation on long-promised functionality. Payee management is probably the longest waiter in the queue - and likely one of the most used.

If you have a joint account, it’s not always clear which account you’re in.

I’ve always thought this could easily be solved by having either
A. Joint printed at the top of the card
B. A different card design for joint
C. A different card colour for joint

My preference would be for a separate colour.

Yep, the only think I find useful about summary as seeing all my Bills in one place.

To control my budget after putting money aside in pots for Bill’s and savings I put my monthly budget into a pot and use IFTTT to transfer a daily budget into my account. This renders the left to spend feature useless to me.

Regarding budgeting/summary my other bit of feedback is that since the new UI removed that page from the bottom tabs, it isn’t obvious how to get there anymore.

This is a fair question. I’ll try and answer it (based on my personal viewpoint), but would love to avoid this thread becoming a meta-discussion about ‘sticking to plans’ if possible - let’s focus on the feedback around the app structure.

There is a tricky balance to strike when you openly share ideas and plans for the future, especially when working at a fast growing company where priorities can change quite often, reacting to new information and more pressing needs. Plans change, and that can feel like a lot of promises not being met.

One thing I will say, having been here a couple of years now - the tone in the company has definitely shifted over time from trying to get as many new features out as quickly as possible, to working on fewer things at once, and spending the time to get them right before moving on. This will likely mean fewer shiny exciting announcements, but hopefully a little more predictability, and a better experience overall.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t still areas of the app that need some attention, but more and more projects these days are focussed on refining the fundamentals. I think the work the Product Platform squad has done over the last few months on iterating towards a new app structure (and now continuing to refine it), is a good proof point of that.

When it comes to the points listed in this blog post, I have high confidence we’ll make good progress on them (these things are never done). A lot of the work is already in progress, and there are some small, iterative steps we can take to improve things.

Hope this helps. :hot_coral_heart:
