Nope, just checked. Very weird.
That is weird. I’m not running Safari unfortunately, so I can’t try it.
I’ve never experienced this on Win10 Pro 64-bit & Chrome (release) but other people are reporting inconsistent operation of the prompt; https://github.com/bitwarden/browser/issues/320
I’ve been using it on Mac with Safari for about a month now, and for me its been a bit hit and miss as to whether it offers to save the passwords - sometimes I see the bar appear at the top of the page after logging in, but then the page refreshes and it disappears before I’ve had chance to click save to Bitwarden, other times it works perfectly and then sometimes nothing at all.
The best way I’ve found around it when signing up for new accounts at least is to create the login in Bitwarden first, and then get it to autofill into the sign up form on the website - but that doesn’t help if you’re just trying to get it to start saving previous logins…
Glad it is not just me!
Today it popped on a site which it didn’t work on yesterday, but the bar vanished so quickly I could not save it. Luckily I don’t need a new password manager, I just wanted to try it out as it was recommenced by so many people here. It is a shame because the features is good, without getting bloated.
Without meaning to be too single-minded, for anyone still considering their options 1Password is very reliable with this. Even if the page load moves on in the background, the dialogue that 1Password pops up for saving a password stays until you dismiss it one way or another.
I currently use 1Password and have done so for the last year, prior to that I was using Dashlane and I’ve also tried LastPass.
I’ve tried a few others but certainly 1Password has the best interface and integration with the computers, phones etc that I use.
After reading about the features and reviews for Bitwarden on here I’ve slowly started to get frustrated with Lastpass over the last couple of months. For no particular reason, just wishing that it was a bit more polished and I had more granular control.
I’ve used Lastpass for many, many years but today I made the switch to Bitwarden. Wish me luck!
Good luck! I did the same switch about 2 years ago and haven’t looked back
So far so good.
Couple of things:
- The web version of the vault doesn’t look as modern
- There’s not many ‘types’. For example bank account (there is only card) but I suppose I could merge them together and ‘servers’ was another big one I used a lot.
Other that than first impressions are so far so good. I guess I’ll be able to review it properly over the coming weeks as I use it more on a day-to-day basis
Nothing on Premium tempts me yet, other than: “TOTP verification code (2FA) generator for logins in your vault.” which is cool and is what I didn’t have on Lastpass despite them having their own authenticator!
I bought premium for the TOTP code functionality. Works really well. You autofill your username and password on a site and it puts the time code into your clipboard ready to just paste in the two factor authentication box. Very seamless.
You should check out 1Password, it addresses both of these issues well.
I’ve settled into using just the Chrome and MS Edge (new version) Bitwarden browser extensions exclusively on a daily basis - they’re fast and do the job of the vault for me. Bitwarden is very good.
I use 1Password, I’ve tried a few other big names such as LastPass and Dashlane.
I’ve just started using Bitwarden and so far it’s working well and I’m very happy with it
Oh and it’s free too (with a paid option)
I may try it yet, I’ll see how I go even if it is very pricey compared to the others.
I didn’t realise how little effort it is to migrate all your credentials over. So I’ll be hopping through them all if I start finding issues with this Bitwarden
I signed up to BitWarden after the recommendation on here a few months ago from LastPass and haven’t looked back.
@Ordog will be interested to hear your review after a couple of weeks of use. In that same place after using LastPass for years.
Right now I don’t have the energy to switch over! Though looking at both 1Password too and that seems a bit more feature rich.
I had to leave MyKi a few months ago because we use 1Password at work and I don’t want to manage 2 managers.
Whilst 1 Password is good, I really miss MyKi
Yeah will do.
I couldn’t be bothered either but you just go into the options menu, click export and then go into bitwarden and click import. It’s really that simple!
I have both now, so it would be easy to bin one and go back to the other. Or jump to 1password.
Where did you find the 1password feature list? I’m struggling to see anything beyond the usual stuff that is mentioned in their video
How do you dispose of the file created for this purpose as I assume it has all your details, unencrypted?
That was my concern when I tried BitWarden, so did a few manually, but never really took to it.
