The Wallet/Bag Discussion

Anyone here tried the LinusTechTips bag? Looking for something to carry a MacBook and some stuff while travelling, whatever £50 sports direct one I’ve been using is starting to wear

Ha, I hate the Kanken with a passion, but the expensive Greenland stuff (I have a Down Greenland coat for the winter) I love

I’ve been using this for a while now:

For less than a tenner I can’t argue.

I also like some of their hiking clothing, a fjall raven shirt and cap have been long and faithful hiking companions to me! But some of it is way too pricy and brands like Rab and Haglofs do better technical equipment cheaper.

Their backpacks though, I’m just not a fan of any of them - way too pricey across the whole range for what they are.

My lightweight waterproof coat is a Fjallraven coat. Impressively well constructed, doesn’t leak through the seams, I really like it. The bags are hideous though.

I’ve only recently stopped using my 2008 vintage Crumpler bag (under much protest, but it is literally worn out). I loved it, great size and felt really secure as the straps go over the zip so no-one can open it when you’re wearing it.

Currently using a small cross-body bag that’s technically a camera bag (but I don’t have a camera in it). I forget the brand (will edit in later if I remember to check)

Everyone with these fancy wallets or card holders on the back of their phones.

My wallet is a GWR Ticket Holder which only used to hold train tickets and now it’s become my wallet and I really love it! Mainly because it’s so small and compact.

Am I the only person that just puts my cards in a tesco carrier bag? Don’t see the need for a separate, much smaller wallet.

Ah, is that because you use an Asda bag instead?

You in past tense now.

I love most Fjallraven bags, I think they look great. Way better than the generic boring “black laptop backpack” type of thing I see so many people sporting.

this one?

Finally found something to replace my 10+ berghaus 24/7 that has served me so well.

Think is exactly what I need and will give me flexibility to use it for work trips and my main travel bag. I might get the smaller daypack as well.

Just to say, Berghaus have a free repair service. I use it for my (over 10 year old) shoes.

If the item can’t be repaired they will recycle it and send you a voucher.

I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t carry cards at all day to day and just use my phone.

What happens if you lose your phone?

Probably the same thing as losing their wallet but at least they can just go home and get the physical cards until a new phone has arrived.

I never use my card but still take my tiny wallet out as well just in case, I’ve never needed it yet though.

I personally use a CapriSun (with Paper Straw) for my EDC wallet right now

I bought one of thes from Xiaomi a few weeks ago, really good quality for the price and a perfect small rucksack for work use.

Does it fit a 14” laptop?

What made you want to ditch the Tokyo, out of interest?
