The Monzo app is changing: we've had a makeover!

That’s likely to be the only thing changed or fixed as a result of your comment

It’s full steam ahead with the new navigation

Yep I know my opinion is irrelevant but wanted a rant as it’s such a step down from my perspective :grimacing: … unless anyone can tell me what the benefit is that I’m missing ?

It’s not irrelevant, it’s just one voice amongst many and right at the death

The benefit as I see it is that it is much more capable of dealing with adding in new accounts and the like (e.g. imported credit cards, joint account, business account et al)

I think it about future functionality that isn’t here yet as the app grows and includes things such as account aggregation etc. The old app layout wasn’t suitable for the future plans.

I think this is a key point.

The new nav creates space for future development. The benefits will be over the longer term.

When I click on “see what’s new” nothing happens. Can anyone upload the screens that come up when you press this? Thanks

Few things in my opinion:

  • There is no need for two separate options on the home page talking about pots.
  • “Learn about overdrafts” and “Learn about out loans” are displayed on the homepage despite having “lending promotions” turned off.
  • Settings, within settings is still annoying…
  • “Switch to monzo” appears on too many screens…
  • There is no need for the first settings page to be honest, “create joint account, switch to monzo, your monzo and monzo energy switch service” could all be on the home screen under the “Do more with monzo” section.

I don’t think it is suppose to do anything, I think it just takes you to the home screen so you can look around but I too expected some sort of tutorial like display.

I seem to remember the resulting screens being trailed on the other thread

I just got the update but when I load it, nothing has changed. It’s exactly the same as before ?!

Are you a fan of the dark arts more generally?

Try force closing it or reinstalling the app or have you been on the lab test version already?

and have iOS13 dark mode control it!!

Tried force closing it but no luck. I did test the lab version very briefly a while ago but went back to the old look

It’s not turned on yet as far as I am aware. Still seems to be feature flagged.

There’s a server side flag (or two) that needs to be flipped, and Monzo appear to be staggering the rollout (I guess in case flipping it for every account all at once causes any problems).

Ah ok that makes sense

Thanks! I was confused by this too! Installed the update and the release notes say it’s 3.0 but it’s all exactly the same for me still. I suppose really they mean it’s getting ready for 3.0.

Just updated to version 3 and I’m not seeing the pot progress bars that were there in the previous version.

I’ve set goals on some of my pots and in the previous version I was able to easily view progress across all my pots on one screen. Now there’s just a % but you have to open each pot one at a time to see it, so not that useful.

I thought the plan for the UI refresh was to reorganise the interface and wasn’t expecting features to be removed?

The other thing I’ve noticed is the annoyance of the account keep changing back to the personal account when you open the app. For those of us who use joint accounts 99% of the time it’s frustrating to have to keep switching the account back whenever you open the app.

I can see this was reported multiple times during development so disappointing it was never addressed.

Totally agree with this, I have mentioned this before - why is energy switch not on “do more with Monzo” page.
