Did you sign up for split accounts in different apps specifically? I didn’t.
But I understand the current app/account structure and how your personal situation could cause such an unwanted situation - hence my workaround suggestion to help it stop happening for you in the future, before any changes to the app in this area are made. But it is clearly a lack of attention with identically named pots in 2 different accounts which caused the issue in this case.
If you feel it is still an issue, please relay your wish for unlinked (in the app) accounts to Monzo via in-app chat.
Lack of attention? They are pots in separate accounts, therefore shouldn’t need pot names that display the account they are from. You seem to be thinking i want the accounts to appear more separate purely because of this example, thats not the case. I already expressed a desire for the personal and joint accounts to be more separated within the app in the feedback forums, i dont think every bit of app feedback should be given through in app chat like you suggest, that would be a waste of customer service time.
Im not sure what you’re getting at with your first question, i signed up for a personal account before joint accounts were available, then when joint accounts became available, my wife and i got one, finding it very useful. It was clear which account you were dealing with at all times. Only in the bew nav does it appear more integrated, which might suit some, but it doesnt suit me, which is i why i gave the feedback
Thanks for redesigning the app to be an absolute generic, one of the many, mediocre banking app. It was one of the best, now is one of many. Too white, too bland, too much text, lost character. For me, the burn-down chart was a very special, friendly feature. It was the item I first spotted when opening the app, it always reminded me and provided the challenge to stretch it to the end of the month. Now we have a big nothing! It doesn’t add any extra space to the list below(not that we needed) or any additional information. Very disappointed.

Everyone gets carried away with a good idea every now and again. No need to ‘B’ sorry.
It was pretty apparent to me. Very gimmicky feature, doesn’t add much to the user experience and card/balance status. I barely look at my saving pots. Maybe once or twice a month. I desperately miss the daily spending on the top right, which was pretty useful to stay within the limits of the daily allowance in relation to the monthly budget. That piece of information, sadly went missing with the chart as well.
Fair points, which I completely respect. I took your post as “the app is broken and needs to be fixed because it allowed me to pay from a pot which I didn’t intend to pay from.”
We’re on the same journey to make things easier, simpler and clearer.
Gotta say after all the wait I’m reasonably happy with it. After reading all the unhappy commentary I was expecting something more unpleasant…
I can work with it, as I would of my legacy bank updated their app (which they did recently)
i suppose one thing I don’t like is it reminds me of one of those card organiser drawer things from the 80s/90,it lacks a bit of permanence or something.
I did get a bit lost in my main account view at first and also the back button thing is counter intuitive big time. After a beta programme I’m surprised something like that made it out to the wild. But enough there to build on-its certainly fresh
I might miss something but I only have the current balance in the top centre, and the rest of monthly budget right below it. And there is no date anywhere
It was for me. Usually I set my budget to £900 and having the daily spending in big caps on the top I knew exactly how much I’m allowed to spend of my £30 daily limit. Also, it motivated me to keep that number low so that the next day my budget circle reflect the surplus saved on the day before. These were neat daily routines supported by the app, which I no longer have. Of course I can add up the number myself, or scroll down and see the number in the header, but it’s not the same. I have to re-adjust how I’m using the app, and I didn’t ask for that. With this effort I can just try out a brand new digital banking app, which it didn’t even occur to my until now…
The problem is when you use the app how monzo would like you to, as your main bank account with bills coming out. Then the daily spend goes wildly out of wack and keeping it under a consistent amount becomes impossible. So due to this is doesn’t make sense to be so important. The main thing to understand is that Monzo have designed this new look to support being your main account and it’s really great now if you do that, but it probably isn’t as good as a spending card with the removal of the graph (which doesn’t work at all and is actually detrimental when using as a main account) and reducing the importance of spent today.
I know everyone would like it to be perfect for them, but I’m pretty sure monzo would rather have 2m users with 70% of them using it as a main account than 4m with 20% main account users.
I went full Monzo after using the app after two weeks, so it is my main and only account since maybe April last year. The old design supported me well.
