The Monzo app is changing: we've had a makeover!

Thanks, look forward to it. Loving my monzo personal and joint accounts. Just read about salary sort, looks interesting, I currently use Google calendar to track when my bills are due and how much, it would be nice to have this facility integrated into Monzo. Otherwise thanks guys for the great work:ok_hand::blush:

The new home button animation has made it to iOS on TF 3.1.0  (Ignore the low quality GIF that got converted, looks much better in real life)

Are we still waiting for a blog post from Tom about something exciting?

We’ve made room for the Monzo that’s coming We’re not done yet. We have some new features that we’ll be releasing soon; keep an eye out for a blog post from our CEO Tom next week.

Yes we are. Thursday afternoons are always good for a blog release - but then the overworked server incident :computer::fire:yesterday lunchtime may have delayed things.

I’d settle for an answer to the question whether I’m getting the new layout or not as a business account customer. The question was escalated to a specialist almost 6 hours ago.

I still haven’t got the new look; are you guys still rolling it out or do I need to do something else to get it?

Firstly, I’m actually a really big fan of the new UI (and I’ve been using it since Labs) - I think it looks far nicer than the old one, so a big thank you to the team from me!

I do however have a couple of (quite minor, but annoying) navigation issues - The first one is to echo what has been mentioned by a few people here - The “Things you can do with Monzo” card.

I understand the desire to have this as a “card”, you’re trying to encourage users to utilise new things, and having it there got me to take a look. I’ve now read it, and know what’s on that list, so you achieved your goal  . My issue is just that tapping the “home” button to swap between my accounts also takes me to this tab; which I never want to do. I would go so far as to say it’s never anybody’s goal. One extra swipe to get to a tab you’ll look at occasionally is far better than one extra click on something we do 20 times a day. This is a fast (slightly hidden - I only found it by mistake) navigation hack, so those using it are day-to-day users who don’t need to be bombarded with pushes to do things they are either already doing, aware of, or don’t want.

The second, for me, is the number of taps to get back to full list of accounts - when I start the app, this is almost always the page I want to see first, but it never is, and to get back to it usually requires me to swipe down to hide the payments list, then swipe down again to get to my accounts list. Initially, I didn’t even realise that was there, and the UI annoyed me before I saw it (an overview is the most useful, flicking through 8 tabs to see everything was frustrating).

I feel like the easiest solution to this would be to have the back button always return to this screen before exiting the app - Currently, even if you go from the summary screen to a pot/card, hitting back exits the app. I hit that button and exit accidentally multiple times a day. Pressing back is just intuitive to me, and I can’t seem to get used to swiping down to get to a totally different page.

I agree with everything you have said!

I would point out that the home button shouldn’t be taking you to the “Things you can do with Monzo” card if you are on the latest version of the app. I believe this was fixed recently?

I’m still on 3.0.0 but the Play Store isn’t showing anything new - might just be part of a phased roll out, in which case, that’s great news!

Sadly, my Monzo app just updated. I tried the beta and switched back because I didn’t like it.

I can’t stand the new pot layout - I find having to scroll through “cards” extremely annoying… Getting to the joint account is a faff. I much preferred the old pot layout: a long list where all the figures were visible. My pots match my spreadsheet.

Has anyone with a business account been updated yet? Not seen any confirmation anywhere (probably missed it) that they’ve even finished building the new layout for business accounts.

Have you tried swiping down on the transaction list in order to see your pots at a glance?

Just had confirmation that if you have a business account, you’re not getting the new layout. Quote:

"We aren’t planning to upgrade business account holders to the new navigation currently.

This will be something that we will look at, at some point soon I’m sure"

It hasn’t been enabled for me and I have a business account. I remember @bruno mentioning there wasn’t much work that needed doing for it to be enabled for business accounts but haven’t seen confirmation that that work has been done yet.

Swipe down twice, you’ll see an overview page (note they do have amounts along the right hand side, I just removed them for the upload):

Did nothing get pushed to explain to people about how to use the new layout? It seems like people are struggling because they are having to navigate without understanding where everything sits and how to get to it?

My thoughts

The summary, which is by far the biggest feature monzo has to help manage spending, feels like its now an after thought, to get to it, im basically exiting the new look and going to the original summary screen. I want it to be central to my app

Joint account. It feels like just another account/pot on the scroll list, whether its scrolling sideways through the accounts or scrolling down the overview of accounts/pots. Its for different spending, i want it to be separate.

Pots. They now feel like accoints rather than pots, i want them out of view. Comparing it physically, i wouldnt separate cash out to different wallets and then take all those wallets everywhere with me. Pots are supposed to be out of the way, not alongside my main balance.

I wasnt sure about the new look at first but thought id get used to it, now ive had a think about what i want the app to do, the revamp has pretty much undone the benefits I liked about pots, joint account and summary

I keep trying but i really can’t figure out what the new layout is supposed to achieve. The main affect its had on me so far is to think about looking into other fintechs to switch altogether
