The account closure part of the CASS does not have to take place within the seven day guaranteed time frame, as that is the target for your new account to be fully up and running.
The ālosingā bank/building society can sometimes take a couple of days to complete the closure, in their own time. It will close, however, unless thereās an administration error, or you owe the company money.
Well my main lloyds account has closed this morning but there was a Ā£1 amount that was pending that should have come back to me in a few days. Oh well guess I have lost that now. Luckily itās wasnāt a larger amount the audible app used to test my account out for the trial.
It should automatically go into your Monzo account, unless it was a card refund (which thinking about it, it will be).
They might get in touch with you if they canāt do the refund
-is cass a one time only event?or can i move some ddās now and otherās later?
-in the same vain, can i request to transfer ddās but not transfer payments into the account i.e. salary.
-can i request the bank iām transferring from leave the account open?
-can i transfer into a monzo joint account? from a hsbc joint account ?
Your first few questions Monzo only offer a full switch. This moves everything and closes the old account. You can could always contact the people you have direct debits with and move them yourself
Joint account: itās officially not supported yet but some people have done it and itās worked fine. For some it hasnāt. Try it and see
Bit worried. Had my first set of direct debits come out yesterday. But I still keep getting notifications from monzo to say that a certain direct debit has been set up. They were already setup and notified me ages ago. But now I have duplicate direct debits setup if I go to my payments list. Anyone else getting this?
Some companies will receive notification that your bank details have been changed and set a new one up. Some will just replace the existing one so nothing too unexpected here. Leave them all active so you donāt accidentally cancel active ones. If you do get double charged you have the CASS guarantee and direct debit guarantee to fall back on to claim back overpayments
I had this too when I switched ages ago, I contacted Monzo customer support and they advised the following:
Leave all the direct debits as they are until a date where they should have all been collected. E.g. I have all mine setup to be taken out on the 1st of every month so check a few days after that.
You will then see that the amount is next to those that have been taken. You can then delete the duplicate ones that have no amount next to them.
Thanks. My concern is that one of the duplicate direct debits is Royal London. I read on here they have problems with Monzo. The new direct debit confirmed today has a nice icon on it. The one that actually came out my account yesterday doesnāt. I assume the money has reached them Ok.
