Switch to Monzo and Help us Test the Current Account Switch Service

Same! When I switched from Natwest to Nationwide the payee info came along with it - I thought it was standard for this always to be the case.

Dittoed here (I was hoping Nationwide would have a ‘Closed accounts’ section - the same was MBNA do for old credit cards - but alas…)

A lot of my direct debits have unpretty names and logos post-switch. Looking forward to https://monzo.com/blog/2018/01/19/beautiful-direct-debits/ for that.

I didn’t have a balance to bring over from Natwest, but @Davesanchez are you able to tap and submit logo+name changes to those payments?

I agree. Would love it if you could also see your company’s logo when you got paid.

Hi, no not able to suggest a logo for those, agree with you direct debit logo’s need tidying up! however I did have EE mobile briefly with monzo and I had the logo and just EE next to it but changed it back to my legacy bank and now I’ve fully switched no logo with it :upside_down_face:

Does partial switch also closes the account as I’m missing this clarification in the post?

I think you can suggest it now by clicking into the receipt, I’ve now started getting a “beautified” :nail_care:salary payment from my employer.

I received my first communication from Tesco Bank this morning, dated 18/4/18 to advise me of the switch to Monzo and to call them if I didn’t initiate it… that was nice of them bearing in mind the switch is due to complete tomorrow… yet another reason why I left in the first place…!

Unfortunately Direct Debits switched over with CASS only include the first 18 characters of the merchant name. Sadly this means that we can’t easily match them to our existing info. That being said once you receive a payment for these Direct Debits if you submit feedback in the app we should be able to update our database.

I did the partial switch. Everything went great but I think a stickied notification at the top of transactions would be better.

This could be updated as the switch progresses and by clicking on it would show a progress report of where you are on the switch ‘journey’.

It would be nice to know what’s happened, what’s currently happening and what’s going to happen.

Something like this, but Monzofied and obviously better :grinning:

I’ve had a letter from my bank saying to call them if it wasn’t me after it had been completed!

To be fair, this may or may not be the bank’s fault: Royal Mail isn’t exactly in the habit of delivering letters in a timely fashion :roll_eyes:

Though they surely could’ve (and should’ve) contacted you by email, text, whatever. This is what concerns me with all these “gaining supplier led” switches (energy, phone number porting, CASS): That sufficient safe guards may not be in place, and that once someone has impersonated me, they can be difficult to undo.

Thanks for the info. I can see all my direct debits with no logo are 18 characters long exactly. We’ll see how may remain in a months time.

Is it the same for standing orders (specifically the letting agent I pay my rent to)?

Yep, we only receive the first 18 characters of the name for both standing orders and Direct Debits.

With the future promised receipt of SCT or SWIFT do you know what the character limitations will be for those?
