I opened up monzo on Android this morning having used my card for some transactions yesterday and noticed that while the spent today total was correct (0.00), the detail above was still showing transactions from yesterday (A$0.00+£9.44+$35.46).
Sadly I didn’t manage to grab a screenshot, and it fixed itself when I manually refreshed my feed by pulling down.
I wonder if this is related to foreign currency transactions as I haven’t noticed it on days when I’ve only spent GBP.
Thanks Andrew! We’ve seen this a couple of times — something to do with the balance not refreshing correctly always We’ll get it fixed
Cool. I’ll see if the same thing happens tomorrow, as I have a transaction in USD from today.
Another thing I’ve now noticed is that the details today only list the USD spend, whereas with the bug I reported above I got 3 currencies.
I think this is because I got an active card check from the company which is based in Australia but charges in USD. Given the check was for a zero amount, I wasn’t expecting it to appear in the daily spend details. I don’t see any value or currency in the feed item.
We can beg to differ on a matter of opinion. Personally I would like to see any zero charges so i know who is seeking authorization and hence has my card details
Hmm, possibly.
It only just dawned on my as to why there was an A$ number in the list, so yesterday I was thinking “why am I seeing this other currency when I’ve only spent USD and GBP”.
I’d actually rather it gave me that detail in the feed item, but I don’t care about zero transactions in the daily summary.
Just to report back and say this didn’t happen to me today after my USD transaction yesterday
A new update on this bug, it seems that an active card check from PayPal results in a $0.00 appearing in the spent today details. I’m assuming this is because PayPal US is doing the active card check, but the feed item says PayPal GBR
So I’m seeing the original bug I reported again now, but this time a manual refresh doesn’t fix it. The total spent is correct, but the details are wrong.
Another variation on the theme today. I received a refund for a card check carried out the previous day, and this was subtracted from my daily spend, and doesn’t appear in the details.
This strikes me as being wrong, as this is displaying the net change in my account balance, not my spend. If I had not spent 4.01 today would my daily spend be negative, or just not increase until I spent over 1?
I’m not sure what the right answer is in this situation, clearly card refunds cause a lot of confusion especially if they occur on a different day to the original transaction, but surely debits to your account (same as topups) should not affect the “spend”. Or maybe the today info should show and in and an out to avoid confusion?
