I just noticed when setting up a new Payee on Lloyds online banking it confirms the brand of bank when entering the sort code:
To me this would be a handy addition just to confirm you’re sending money to the right place. I recently went to create a payee on Monzo and entered the sort code wrong! Luckily it wasn’t a valid one so no money was misplaced

What does everyone else think?
My brain always tries to enter 04–00–40 
Completely agree, would be a great feature.
Had a bit of a ropey moment myself recently when I changed where my wages get paid into. I was convinced I mistyped it.
not sure how long this feature has been present however when the sortcode/account number combination is incorrect, you get an alert while trying to create the payment.
I think it’s been there for a while, it’s very handy to know though!
