The Coin Jar pot feature is great and very useful when want to save some money. I think if we would be able to setup the amount of money we could round to, it would be much easier for me to reach a specific goal without needing to do many and many transactions.
At the moment the pot rounds to the first integer. e.g. if I spend £5.45, then Monzo moves £0.55 to the pot, however if I could setup to round to the first integer up to £1.99 for example, it would be easier for me to reach a goal in a short term.
Examples 1:
I setup the round to £3:
If I spend £5.70 at the supermarket then Monzo will move £2.30 to my pot.
If I spend £23.25 at the supermarket then Monzo will move £2.75 to my pot.
If I spend £47.00 at the supermarket then Monzo will move £3 to my pot.
Example 2:
I setup the round to £2:
If I spend £5.70 at the supermarket then Monzo will move £1.30 to my pot.
If I spend £23.25 at the supermarket then Monzo will move £1.75 to my pot.
If I spend £47.00 at the supermarket then Monzo will move £2 to my pot.
I hope this makes sense for you all. I would love to have this feature.
You can’t choose custom amounts to round to though? Monzo limits it to £1 or 50p. If you know how to make a custom one as @aguscollazo asks, let me know too!
I’m interested in spending a bit more time with IFTTT, although having looked at creating some custom triggers the options available don’t seem entirely flexible… (e.g. how would you accommodate this scenario using the available triggers?).
Is there a difference between creating a custom applet, and writing your own (i.e. is there a way of actually writing your own applet as opposed to creating one via custom triggers?).
Thank you all for your responses. After some investigation, it doesn’t look to be a quick solution unless a new Dev app is created. Hopefully Monzo will create a new one soon in order to make the round up configurable!
