Hugo has never said never (and your inference implication is wrong). But he’s repeated many times users will not be given the option to switch it on or off.

The problem with these things is not the toggle itself, the problem is that if we give the option to remove pulse and then, two months later, we want to incorporate a feature (like we’re going to do) that relays heavily on the pulse in order to work, what do we do then? Do we need to design two different versions to accommodate for those that decided to turn off the pulse? Trust me, it’s a big big rabbit hole that we prefer to avoid.

I’m pretty sure we’ll adjust things around the pulse at some point. I don’t think we need to let you “turn it off”, what we need to do is to improve the design so it works better on small screens and gives you enough value so you don’t feel we’re wasting that real estate.

If we’re persevering with the pulse is because, right now, it’s a structural piece for many of the features that we have in the pipeline.
