Very true. When they returned to the topic later they were then ranting about Paul Burrell on I’m A Celeb. Apparently he’s a traitor. So it’s all about the drama. But most of us know so little about the actual royals I guess we’re all left with the super distilled version we’re shown.
What have the royal family ever done for us?
And coronation chicken is quite nice.
I firmly stand by my love for coronation chicken in all its forms.
Sadly the other half hates coriander so it doesn’t taste the same to him.
Love coronation chicken but cannot stand coriander.
I mistakenly added some to a meal recently thinking it was some other green herb, ruined my whole meal
Happy original iMac announcement day, can’t think of anything else happening today so it’s so nice to see people with flags n stuff celebrating
If only there was a word for this kind of thing.
they’ll get de-arrested but it’ll be “too late” to actually protest.
I recall some years ago in the run up to a royal wedding CH4 News were following a group of elderly communists from Oxford on their plans for a peaceful protest in London. It was to be away from the processional route in one of the parks.
On the day of the wedding the camera crew were ready to film their departure very early in the morning and ended up filming their arrest. They were released without charge much too late for them to get to London and protest.
I’m sure they took the police to court for wrongful arrest and unlawful detention, but I can’t recall the outcome of that.
All those signs and rental of the van must have cost a bit.
I suggested coronation chicken for lunch today and my wife started the swearing early…
Apparently they arrested a bunch of just stop oil protesters as well… peaceful protest is illegal now… that’s what you get when the government is allowed to rush laws through without scrutiny.
Seems there’s more to the story here. Plans were in place to block the road, they had chains and padlocks, and megaphones (hardly ideal with hundreds of horses). Peaceful protest should always be allowed, but hopefully there will be a full explanation from the police as to why they made that decision. I suspect, as we saw with the grand national, these protestors had an ulterior motive than “peaceful protest”…
About 5 hours ago it started!
I await the police’s evidence of them possessing lock-on devices, which the group denies (and has no history of using them).
They were on their way to a designated protest site as part of a pre-approved protest. They were not told what they were being arrested for at the time, either.
Possession of a megaphone is not (or should not be) illegal either. The ‘spook the horses’ excuse is pathetic - will the crowds all stand silently for the horses as they pass? Of course not, there will be a huge amount of noise and the horses are trained for that. The horses don’t know if someone is shouting because someone loves the king or because they hate the monarchy - they are horses.
If a pro-monarchy crowd member has a megaphone with them, will the police arrest them? Or just ask them not to use it when the horses pass?
You keep mentioning the Queen Do you know something we don’t?
I keep forgetting about this whole king thing . I should pay more attention
I think they’re on the way out now, you might get a second chance to see some horsies shortly.
Not really my sort of show tbh, but I’ve LOVED the coronation today, mainly because I took a trip to IKEA this morning.
Roads were nice n’ quiet, plenty of parking at the retail park. IKEA was quiet, no queuing at the checkouts. Completely stress free.
Can’t help but think the king should be crowned more often!
I didn’t think I’d watch it but I did and I actually rather enjoyed it.
Politics aside it was just nice to watch something calming and relaxing and not just everyone being angry at each other.
I was also very impressed with the parade precision, and found the music really chill
