Anyone got a 50p yet?

Yup, even simple things like your Heinz ketchup bottles will need their Royal warrants updating, but first they have to reapply for it!

Anyone else click on this thinking, “what, already?”

“what, already?”

this was my response when Hugh Edwards made the announcement on BBC News and they referred to Charles as the King when talking about him remaining at Balmoral for the night

The Royal Mail (or is it the post office?) has been very quiet on changing stamps. I’d have thought that would be a quicker switch than notes!

These things usually enter circulation after the Coronation. Think of Edward VIII, coins and stamps with his head are very rare.

Ah ha, that makes perfect sense. TIL!

Plus he’s far too busy catching up on The Crown to sign off on any of the designs.

Crown spoiler alert: She dies.

Yeah its Royal Mail, they’ve said they have stock of yet to be released commemorative stamps etc that will still feature Queen Elizabeth on.

Then they’ll be releasing commemorative first and second class stamps with King Charles on - I expect the new stamps to go into circulation in 2024.

Seems to be a 2 year lead for the notes, the royal warrants can also still be used for 2 years after her death so it seems logical.

Surely these aren’t the first British bank notes to have had Charlie on them in recent years.
