Tried contacting support but she was not helpful.
This issue has 2 possible scenarios, with the same resulting advice:
1) Was the transaction tagged to be paid from a pot?
From the screenshots above (one of which has your name covered and another which has your name displayed ), it seems that the transaction wasn’t tagged to be paid from the pot.
- You transferred £9 into the pot, to cover the upcoming payment.
- You had £0.63 remaining in your account (not in pots)
- The £9 was debited from the account (not a pot) as it usually is* - but you only had £0.63 in there so it failed
- The £9 remained in your pot, as it hadn’t been tagged as a transaction to be paid from the pot
*ALL pay-from-pot transactions are debited from the (main) account, ALWAYS. The pay-from-pot feature simply moves money from a selected pot to the main account, for transactions that are tagged as ‘pay from pot xxxx’. You have to tag the transaction first.
2) CPA’s
Your images state ‘Subscriptions’. You can’t pay a CPA (Continuous Payment Authority, such as Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, Xbox, etc.) from a pot. They will always be taken from the main account without the ability to auto-move funds from a pot because Monzo receives no advance notification of when the debit will occur and therefore cannot ‘pre-move’ the funds from the designated pot to the main account to cover the debit.
In either case, you needed to have the £9 in the main account for the payment to be made.
