Paying in Cash

It’s always been stated that Post Office access will require new Debit Cards to be issued and the last time it was talked about in detail was around the time that the PO were renegotiating (higher) charges for this with the banks.

Is anyone able to tell me the technicalities of why this would be the case?

I seem to remember Starling saying that their new Teal cards would work at the post office but their old Purple (and much nicer ones) would not. Something do with chip (again IIRC)
