Payee in list that I don't recognise

I was scrolling through my payee list earlier and there is someone in there that I don’t recognise.

The person is listed under the following section

Payments - Manage Payees - Monzo contacts.

I most definitely don’t know this person ,everyone else in the list I know. I contacted support but they weren’t able to help. I most definitely don’t know this person and definitely don’t have the number in my contacts.

The person shows as having an 0800 number under their profile and when I searched the number on who called me , it shows as a monzo scam caller who attempts to fraudulently gain access to people’s accounts. How can this person appear in my list given they are not saved as a contact ? There is no option to delete this contact and I think this is something that needs to be addressed. Thoughts ?

I should add I’ve never had any requests from this person not sent any payments , only appears under the Monzo contact section. My phone is secure and I use a variety of tools to ensure my online safety.

I can’t see an option for that in the app ?

Go into ‘manage payees’ > tap into one > Edit in the top right, then there should be a big red delete button at the bottom.

Thanks, got it. I had to add the person as a payee first to bring up the delete and block function. Thanks for your help :+1:

This is possibly the same person I have in mine.

It appears someone has signed up using the Monzo phone number, which I have saved in my contacts, and is therefore appearing as a Phone Contact on Monzo.

Quite ridiculous Monzo’s sign up flow didn’t stop this.

I flagged it in Chat yesterday.

It was the Monzo number , which , weirdly if you put into who called me, throws it up as being a negative number. Anyway, worse than that, I actually gave the name and number on the online chat and the service rep obviously didn’t recognise it as being the Monzo number . That’s not great ! :joy:
