To say I’m mad is and understatement
Finally got my email and it says that I didn’t use any more than usual for that hour on that day. That’s nonsense - I made sure that I piled as much into that hour as I could! Usually at that time I’d be eating lunch and, possibly, watching TV. Definitely not washing/drying or charging the car.
My 14p isn’t seeming so bad now compared to some people
I got zilch too
It’s bizarre that if you unplugged your smart meter for that hour you’d get something.
But you can’t unplug your smart meter so that’s not really a workaround.
You can always block it from transmitting so it can’t report your usage.
I did type out something to that effect but then deleted it before hitting reply. The effort it would require to block the signal, plus there’s no guarantee that the usage won’t just be reported at a later date.
You’d have to block it forever, the meter stores readings up to 13 (?) months, so when it does connect, it’ll just upload all the data and bill to the correct readings between that period.
I imagine there’s a point by which if they don’t have the data they’ll just issue you a credit for average usage, looks like it might be around a week.
But still, this is a hell of a lot of work for the sake of ##checks notes## eighteen pence.
That’s what they do. I knew from the onset I would get the average because they emailed me.
Is anyone old enough to remember when you could order Sky Box Office movies for free as long as you unplugged the telephone line, but you could NEVER plug it back in again?
No but I remember Netflix DVDs lol
BORN IN THE YEAR 2000
Brilliant. Used to order DVDs, rip and burn them to DVD-R, send back and wait for more.
I always thought those were the golden days but the internet proved me wrong.
Haha yeah there was about a £50 card limit. I also remember a fair few house parties at peoples houses where the pin to order was the last 4 digits of the cards and we ordered everything adult based to troll.
Just now need to wait for the person to come out for the survey now!
I must have received the same email as you - details supplied, quote looks good, need to talk it over with MrsW later and then pay the £200 deposit.
I did it without asking for approval aha, easier to beg for forgiveness lol
