I’ve been sent a new Monzo card but it doesn’t have the contactless symbol or MasterCard. Written on it , is this the new card or a fake?
Neither of those things are requirements any more.
Is your card due to expire?
Check the back of the card sometimes those are located there, my new Metal Card has them on the back

Is it common for people to get fake cards in the post? 
Surely if someone knocked together a Monzo card they can’t tie it to your account. But then why would they give it back to you and not use it themselves?
Did it not arrive addressed to you personally in all the Monzo branded envelope etc?

Do the new card have anything saying MasterCard on them ? Mine just has the symbol
Good to check these things given how many different scams are around. But I don’t think there are scams around fake cards that I’ve heard of.
If it activates in the app, it must have been sent by Monzo.
Surely Monzo haven’t updated their Hot Coral card to the same design language as the Plus and Premium cards?! Surely us penny-pinching freeloaders need to have a reminder in the form of a card with flakey white embossing compatible with KERCHUNK machines from 60 years ago!
The contactless symbol I don’t believe is required anymore (could be wrong, it’s been a while since I last read the physical card artwork requirements), the Mastercard text was dropped last year in a minor rebrand that is just recently getting to physical cards as they get updated and new stock manufactured.
