Monzo now lets you get paid a day early, for free

FIVE days earlier!!!

Nope, last woking day. So this month I’ll get it on Friday 30th.

And a BH is a ‘working’ day in your case?

No, sorry… I’m not sure why I got involved in this :joy:

The last working day is any day except from a Bank Holiday or Weekend.

So the most I would benefit is if I was due to get paid on a regular Monday, I could receive it at 4pm on the Friday previously.

If that Monday was a bank holiday, it would bring the last working day to the previous Friday, and I could receive it at 4pm on the Thursday.

For anyone who gets paid on the last Friday of every month, they’ll only ever have the option to bring it forward a few hours to the Thursday at 4pm.

To use the month as an example, if anyone is due to be paid on Tuesday (which is the next working day), they’ll be able to receive their salary today at 4pm.

Hopefully that clears it all up! :joy:

Cool. So taking @joedmitchell feedback into account the headline is:

“Monzo now lets you get your BACS money five days earlier for free”*

*it may only be up to 9 hours in 99% of cases. Easter week may be complicated.

I mean, I guess you are technically correct, but the only bank holiday on a Friday would be Easter or Christmas (but Christmas wouldn’t follow with a bank holiday on the Monday like Easter).

To use Easter 2020 (which is Sunday 12 April)…

If you are due to get paid on Tuesday 14th April, you could receive your salary on Thursday 9th April at 4pm… :smiley:

Spot on. And to be totally pedantic (not like me at all) it’s not exactly 4pm. You need up to 3 secs to allow for network latency and to swipe through the animation.

:grin::joy::rofl:

Thanks all

BACs can’t be processed on bank holidays. They are normally pushed back a day. Same as direct debits.

Getting my Tuesday pay at 4pm today

This month that is particularly useful and rather appreciated before a long weekend :slight_smile:

Maybe calendar days but not ‘working’ days in banking world. You would be paid Thursday as this is the banking day. As long as your employer didn’t forget to send the BACS through at the correct time.

Did anyone have trouble doing this yesterday? I got the notification twice and then it took me about fifteen minutes of loading screens and messing around force closing the app and such to get this to work.

@jackcully

Worked an absolute treat, my scheduled pay-day is the 27th of the month and I got paid today.

Amazing feature!!!

Right, first time I will be using the early pay day thingy as I have gone full monzo again.
My universal credit pay day is on 28th.
Tomorrow morning (27th) around 8:30 am I am expecting to see the amount on the top in the greyed out section as upcoming for the next day at 1am.
What should I do or what steps should I take to get paid tomorrow?
Thanks in advance
