The documentation says you should only use the ID, but I tried the full URL as per your suggestion, and it still doesn’t work. I’m now getting the error message “Wrong number of arguments to IMPORTRANGE. Expected 2 arguments, but received 1 arguments.”
No the documentation clearly says the URL.
Syntax
IMPORTRANGE(spreadsheet_url, range_string)
spreadsheet_url
- The URL of the spreadsheet from where data will be imported.
You’ve added extra parentheses now. Copy paste the string as text and I’ll fix it. You also need to remove edit and the #anchor
I got it! Thanks for your help, now onto the next bit!
I got to step 6, linked the spreadsheet but the daily allowance isn’t showing up, do you know what I might have done wrong here?
Hang on are you able to import any information? It’s almost impossible to troubleshoot unless you share some sheets with dummy data to look at.
Let me PM you with some info
What should be in B7? And can you specify the sheet name too?
Best to make two dummy sheets you can share publicly to help you troubleshoot.
Clearly it is each to his own but I am happy with 20 minutes or so a day ensuring my money is in the right place and making the most return. Then again I lead a sheltered life - no TV & no social media (unless you count this nonsense, obviously).
I can side with you on the social media part that’s for sure If I didn’t need it for work I’d be rid of it completely too!
I had never used IFTTT until I came to Monzo but now I use it for everything. Even for things around the home that are nothing to do with banking.
All with the same reasoning of why do it repetitively when it can be automated. It takes some time to learn about it and trust it but I’m glad I did
I’ve created a recipe that inputs an event in my iCloud calendar whenever I use my Monzo card. It includes the merchant, location, time, currency and spend value. This has been working fine until recently where events are being duplicated. Not sure if this is being caused by Monzo, IFTTT or iCloud but wondered if anyone else has had an experience like this?
I thought by now we’d be able to do more with IFTTT than we currently have. Anyone know if we’ll be able to do income + outgoings that aren’t card based? (aka direct debits). With it just being card payments, we’re pretty limited right now (imo)
P.S I’ve been using https://github.com/fintech-to-ynab/fintech-to-ynab to get my transactions into YNAB but I’m leaving YNAB so I need better IFTTT more now than ever.
As of right now we aren’t actively working on more IFTTT triggers, I’m afraid.
So what ARE you working on?
Hopefully most of the resource is being used for paid-for-tiers - it sounds like it is. needs to generate revenue and the last incarnation(s) probably cost
a fair few quid which didn’t help. That fail was even mentioned in the 2019 review vid.
Being commercially focussed has to be a priority for survival and growth - I’d like to see this sooner rather than late and I’d like to see it being successful too.
Ditto.
Although I’d like Monzo to tell us what they are working and what they aren’t working on, like a high level roadmap maybe…
Hey guys,
I have a problem I hope you can help me solve.
I’ve just setup a Monzo business account and every quarter a dividend is paid from there into my Monzo personal account. I’m wondering if IFTTT (or standard Monzo functionality) could move 10% of that into a ‘tax’ pot, and the rest into a ‘bills’ pot to save me having to think about doing this when the payment schedule is run?
Thanks.
Do you need to sign up to IFTTT and make an account then connect your monzo account to it?
Easy enough to set up a standing order to your account and a scheduled payment into a pot.
Standing order is set up under the payments tab for the dividend.
For the pot payment you’ll do it in the pot screen, click add to pot but rather then doing it immediately hit the blue text at the bottom to set scheduled payment.
The dividend is variable, so I was kinda hoping there would be something out there to calculate and split it automatically for me.
Not an issue, obviously, but would be nice if it was automated. Simplistically I would want:
- Business account moves 2x dividend payments into joint account
- Joint account moves dividend into ‘bills pot’
- Bills pot splits off 10% and moves this into ‘tax pot’
As said it’s not the end of the world to go in an manually do all this, just wondered if anyone had done similar.
Yep.
Instructions are in the help section of the Monzo app or you can read them here:
