Microsoft Windows 11? / 24th June Event

I’m in a similar position but with a Ryzen and the CPU only came out in 2017 but looks like I’m going to need to upgrade if I want to move to Windows 11. Luckily my MB is compatible so it is only the CPU that needs an upgrade

What’re you using it for? Can you use Linux?

Yeah for gaming, that’s a barrier. I’m in a similar position although I use Linux for non gaming now.

Still by the time Windows 10 support expires, I’ll probably have upgraded the CPU or be looking to upgrade. Slightly annoying not to be on Windows 11 but Windows 10 has been great for me anyway, I’d probably think twice before an upgrade anyway given it’s stability on my build.

Yep that’s the other consideration. Easy to upgrade a PC with second hand parts.

I have a i7-6770k. Actually I’ve moved my computer out of the living room to my bedroom desk (for political reasons) recently so it could probably do with a smaller mobo & case anyway.

As an aside, I’m very interested to try out SteamOS 3.0 when it’s available. Reportedly it’ll do a lot with anti-cheat and Proton to make gaming close to seamless.

ChimeraOS is pretty damn close already, but as you say, anti-cheat really trips it up.
